Perfect time of year for it, too. Especially in farm ponds surrounded by tall grass with big grasshoppers.Use it as a popper and they can't resist it.

Upsize to size #12 hooks in Matzo or Owner. The hooks on the bait are soft and often break,also.They are available Amazon or eBay. You want ones that longer shanked and somewhat oversized with nasty sharp points. I have been using that bait for years on a steady retrieve. It is essentially a grasshopper version of their crawfish. Lighter line is usually better but knotting to that braid will probably do it. Don't let this bait fool you. Large bass will hit this. Gotta play them somewhat lightly even with the upsized hooks. This is the time of year for that bait. The yellow color in the smaller size is lights out a killer.

I used to use the crick hopper and the rebel crawfish crank all the time. I would crush panfish and small bass! Just have to take your time reeling them back in and let the fish set the hook on those tiny trebles.

Ouchie story! For my 5th birthday we went to the lake and had a cookout. I’m a fisherman for life so I brought my pole. Someone gave me this exact lure as a gift! I tied it on and caught a small bass then it was time to go. I went to hook it to the eye of my pole and stepped off a log at the same time...hook went straight into my left ring finger...deep all the way. Straight to emergency room...ate some Funyans in the car and salt burned so bad lol. Good times...I’m now 32

Usually roll with Rooster Tails and Mini Kings, but I really want to catch something with this. I know I will soon based on what happened yesterday. Had 3 panfish make a pass at it but no hook set. They were fairly aggressive strikes so it seems this lure can be hit-and-miss as far as actual hookups go. The lure has pretty sweet action though. I found them to be striking on the pause, as it was just sitting there under a tree. One came up and hit it with a pretty cool splash and then he stopped. Weird. I'm going to try it in some creeks and streams because I know that the fish prefer flashy stuff at the small lake I was at yesterday. I was using the fire tiger one on an Ugly Stick GX2 ultralight with 4lb. mono. I found the lure is really, really light though. May try a split shot next time as the casting distance left a lot to be desired.

I get my biggest bluegill on 1 inch crankbaits. You will get lots of hit from smaller fish that hit the body of the bait with out hitting the hooks. You can switch the hooks out if you feel like experimenting but it tends to be a bath that the fish need to hit it in just the rite way to be hooded
@tedgaddy73983 жыл бұрын
This is also a great lure, like the bitsy minnow, it used to be my go to every day, you are right slow, t is a reaction bait for some fish, but catches bass when you crank it down, it fishes best in the spring and summer, close to the bank, but doesn’t cast near as well as the bitsy minnow,once to get a bitsy minnow adjusted it’s awesome, this lure is great too!
