Bjorn wrote the lyrics of this song about his and Agnetha's daughter Linda. So VERY many beautiful songs by Abba. Their daughter was born 4 days before me on February 23rd 1973. Hard to believe as I am 51 now. This was written when she was about 8 years old.

Song reminds me of my late mother and all she went through raising a disabled child (me), and another son and losing a daughter to stillbirth. My mum was also born on Feb 23. She passed away 12 years ago but I still feel her presence in my life and I hope I always will ❤

ABBA's effective blissful juice of parental awareness , caring and caressing tenderness and even far more than this.Live version from the '81 Dick Cavet show is also disarmingly heartfelt,emotional and piercing.New Gens got fan-miliar to this after that strong scene with Meryl and Amanda in the MM movie.

Great I can't believe you are playing. Slipping Through My Fingers my fav ABBA song. I used to sing it to my ten year old daughter when she used to go off to school in the morning. Her next birthday will be her 50th but the song is still so emotional to me..

Not only moms but fathers as well. At 69 I think back on my two boys as they grew. All the things we wanted to do and never got the chance, all the 'events' which occur as they grow. My wife and I lost our oldest in 2019 at the age of 38 and are now raising his three children, two boys, 19, 18, and a girl, 16. We talk often of their Dad and stories of his younger years.

Thank you so much for reacting to one of ABBA's hidden gems!! And one of my favorites!! Not only can this apply to a Mom or Dad sending off their child to school, but it can also mean, as Amber said, apply to a parent/child relationship at so many other points in life. Even watching an elderly loved one getting older knowing it may not be long before they are not with us anymore...on this side!! Or perhaps a friend who lives far away and the feeling we get when a cherished visit with them must come to an end. Beautiful song!!! Beautiful reaction!!

This sweetly melancholy ballad is from what was until recent years ABBA's last album, 1981's The Visitors. On the original release it was the last-but-one track, and led into another ballad, the almost eerie Like An Angel Passing Through My Room, with a stunning solo lead by Frida Lyngstad. At the end of this audio you've listened to here, you hear a clock ticking. That runs right through the other song, along with what sounds like a music box, accompanying Frida. It is absolutely gorgeous. Give it a listen... Oh. And on the subject of songs written for/about an artist's children...also listen to Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel and, especially, Forever Now by Michael Buble...

I think we all stop at some point and realize that time does just slip away and we need to take all opportunities to be with the little ones and love them and experience things with them and see things through their eyes. I so enjoy watching you guys in this same manor because I get to re-live the joy of this music anew! Thank you for your genuineness! When this song comes up, I, a 40 year old man, still lay my head in my Mom's lap and she strokes my hair. We had a big bonding moment when Mama Mia came out. I wouldn't trade it. I still send her this song, or the scene from the movie, from time to time, because we only see each other a couple times a year, and phone calls only do so much. You never stop needing your mom.

Not only a beautiful song, sung to absolute perfection by Agnetha and those haunting notes from Frida..❤️ ( edit because of auto correct 🙄) It even drives home how much our families are there for the briefest times..I am not a parent, but I am son, brother and an Uncle and Great Uncle. I recently lost my Mum to pancreatic cancer... This song from my point of view is very special. I adore watching you guys...My bad I didn't realise that I wasn't subscribed to your channel. Adore ABBA ❤IV gone from watching my children growing up and spreading their wings to now watching my grandchildren grow and try flying,it's heartbreaking. I want to keep them around me and small. A 14 year old ,an 8 year old,3. 7 year olds,a 4 year old and a new baby due in a few weeks. I hit 65 this week and don't know where the time has gone. The fact that they are growing so quickly makes me sad,but I can't wait to see who they become, all 6 have different personalities but blend so well. All this is captured in this song.

I recommended this song a while back & I thank you both for this reaction video. Once the song started I watched Amber's emotions come through the same way my mother's did when she heard it for the first time & it was beautiful. When this song came out in 1981, My mother & sister were dealing with hard times between them. One night, my mom & I were on the way home from work & I played "Slipping Through My Fingers" in the car for her. She told me to pause the tape & we pulled over to the side of the road to listen to it. It brought tears to our eyes! When we got home, my mom & sister patched things up permanently & became closer. There was only love between them till our mother passed in 2000. Everyone should hear this song!

It’s 5am here in Scotland, I’ve been awake ages, and this was not how I planned to start my day (bawling my eyes out), however, this beautiful song and your reaction, Amber, have given me a lovely chance to enjoy the memories of my girls. Both are in their thirties now and I have a beautiful granddaughter, so I just wanted to say enjoy the humdrum everyday family life you’re creating for your kids, it’ll pass so quickly but don’t be sad, the next exciting chapter awaits, and I hope that your kids, like mine, will continue to include you and remember and repeat many of the things you’re doing now with their kids. The happiness is the thing that lasts. You seem like a lovely family and I hope and pray that you’ll always be happy too 🥰 xx

In the late 70's my wife and I separated for a time and when I heard this song it made me think of my 2 young boys (ages 5 and 9 at the time) and how much I was missing the early part of their lives. ABBA had now advanced to Theatrical or Broadway Genre's. Benny and Bjorn had a huge love for Classical and Swedish Folk music. Many songs on the Visitors album reflected that. By 1981 and 82 the POP world was going in a different direction. I was stationed in Europe at the time and their music was still big over there but in the US is was waning. They were remembered for Disco music which they did very little of but it had a big impact in the US. I think their last single release in the US was When all is said and done which charted a respectable number 27. By 1982 it was clear they were not a world wide sensation any more and didn't want to travel as much or tour at all. Benny and Bjorn wanted to work on a Musical called Chess. Frida and Agnetha did solo albums and they drifted apart until 2019 when the Album Voyage was recorded and released.

I totally get it. What's amazing is, Abba recorded this way back in 1981. I was 12, and I remember sitting there and tearing up way back then. And even today, it touches people's hearts just as much. They really write timeless music.
@sumonjamal165310 сағат бұрын
An obscure ABBA song from their 1981 album 'The Visitors'... the last album before the group split in '83. Because of the couples' divorces, the songs that were coming out were somewhat dark and sad... 'The Visitors' was not an upbeat pop record that ABBA usually delivered... Songs like 'When all is said and done'... 'I let the music speak' ... 'Soldiers'... 'One of us'... were profoundly sad lyrically. The title track 'The Visitors' was a great pop song w/ lyrics about how dissenters were 'disappeared' in Communist countries... Bjorn Ulvaeus said he felt their later songs were better than their early hits but the group was falling out of flavor in the 80's and the couples' divorces didn't help... It was more difficult to keep working together when the heartbreak was too significant and ABBA recording sessions just faded away by 1983.
