When I was 21 back in 1989 I had a boyfriend that was 7 yrs older than me...he taught me and exposed me to music I had never heard before....like Pink Floyd....The Eagles....Blue Oyster Cult....The Moody Blues....i had no clue about any of those bands!! I remember hearing this song on the radio for the first time one night, and I could only assume I was hearing some very well-established forty-five year old black American soul singer that for some reason I'd never heard before. Even though I've been a blues and soul fan for decades. There was no way I could have imagined this voice was coming out of a 21 year old white British woman!
