These bands are so entrenched in our old minds that it blows me away when I hear of so many in your generation who have really never heard of so many legendary performers. “The dude” is Steven Tyler, father of the actress Liv Tyler, and he was known for hitting the heights with his voice. Now, 53 years after forming in 1970, they are still touring and bringing it hard too. Check out Walk This Way and Dude Looks Like A Lady for some strong rock and, to hear their softer side, check out their first Number 1 hit Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.

In the early 70’s, Aerosmith was a local band here in Boston. One of my best music memories was dancing to Dream On so close to Steve Tyler that I could touch him from the dance floor. Their popularity exploded soon after and I’m sure they didn’t play any more small clubs - we paid a $2 cover charge at the time!!

Aerosmith is pure good ol' rock and roll. Their catalog is filled with great songs. Steven Tyler had the voice. He sounds pretty good here. You should listen to the original album version, if you haven't already. Tyler did look somewhat similar to Mick Jagger. Both had big mouths. But they both could sing.

It still shocks me that someone does know Steven Tyler and this legendary group! Guess it means I am old, LOL!! I would suggest you listen to the studio version that we all heard back in the day, this live performance does not do it justice. Also, react to their huge hit "Walk this Way". After you do that first, there is a really fun video of them doing that song with RUN DMC, an early rap group. It was played all the time on MTV back in the day! 😊

I was surprised that Michael was impressed by his voice because you could barely hear it in this video. From the beginning of it I was wondering if Steven Tyler was. . . hmm . . . under some kind of influence during this performance. I’ve seen other videos of them in concert and he’s usually much more energetic and his voice is so much stronger. Michael definitely needs to hear the studio version or watch a different performance video, but I wouldn’t know which ones to recommend.

I actually prefer the studio version - it's much more polished and powerful. Everything shines through just a little more. It's worth a listen on your own time :). But it's still a great song - and you have a taste of what they're like. Steven Tyler is just an icon unto himself. If you're going down this road you MUST watch the OFFICIAL video for Walk This Way - with Aerosmith and Run DMC. And the video for I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing - really shows off his vocals. Cheers from Canada! :)

This is a live performance and they probably sang this toward the end of the concert because his voice sounds pretty well spent. I actually love this version for that very reason. It’s truly authentic. But you may want to listen to the studio recording where his voice is relatively fresh. I say “relatively” because I have no idea how many takes there were before they were satisfied with the final production. He reaches incredible heights.

When you did not know of Aerosmith or Dream On with is their anthem, I was so shocked. How is that possible They are one of the very best rock groups ever. over 50 years and going strong. "back in the day" Steven and Joe were dubbed "the toxic twins", a title well deserved. Much of their early work was done under the influence. They all cleaned up and started the second phase of their career with the albums Permanent Vaction and Pump (my personal fav). Steven has earned the title of The Demon of Screamin'. His scream is unmistakable. Listen for it in each song. Where to start with them.... JANIE'S GOT A GUN , phenominal song and very powerful. The video they shot for it is also very powerful. They won awards for this one. They donated the proceeds to build and fund several women's shelters called Janie's House. I DON'T WANT TO MISS A THING was done for the movie Armegeddon which Steven's daughter starred in. Some other notables in my opinion: WHAT IT TAKES, RAG DOLL, ANGEL, the list just goes on and on but this would be a good start to their rabbit hole

Aerosmith.....one of the greatest rock bands out there. Younger folks might know this song from when Eminem sampled it for his "Sing for the Moment" in the early 2000's. (Steven Tyler-lead singer) performed his part at Eminem's R&R induction) Sing for The Moment Janie's Got a Gun Angel Walk This Way (Also with Run DMC) Eat The Rich Mamma Kin Crazy Pink Jaded I could literally go on for the 50+ years they have been making hits. Side note - Mick Jagger is related to Steven Tyler. Liv Tyler (Aowyn in LOTR) is his beautiful daughter. From the 70s through the 80s, 90s, and 00s.....they banged the room.

M D. I am glad you finally found the American "Led Zeppelin", Our ROCK & Roll Gods, both bands. Album version's would be your best start with any NEW band. This was on the Very First Aerosmith album. Simply titled AEROSMITH. The whole album will shock you. Make It, Is the first song, It grabs your attention, next is Somebody, It is a carry over cut. Next in line is this Song. This is an ANTHEM Song for us around back in the "HIPPIE" era. Other comments will direct you to the top 40 songs of this band, If you like AEROSMITH, I suggest wait and avoid those requests until the first 3 albums are played through. Back in the day we didn't just settle for one song, we had to listen to the whole album and pick-out our favorite cuts. The Toxic twins were really high in this video. The sound is terrible, as most Live Aerosmith video's are. I've been a FAN for over 50 years. I am old, but because of this music, I am way younger than you are! BTW What's up with the "HELLMANS"?
