Amygdala is about his traumas, he talks about his mother's surgery, his father's cancer, the intake of medications, his self-harm, his social phobia, his depression, his anxiety, his motorcycle accident when he worked as a delivery man while rehearsing to debut with BTS. Yoongi had a very deep childhood-adolescence and early adulthood. Pills are shown, hospital for his accident, basketball because it was his strength in moments of depression and anxiety. This song also makes a connection with what the lyrics of his song The Last from his first album say. I am proud of who she is now and all that she has achieved. I feel very identified with him.

This song is the pinnacle of Yoongi’s life story and what he has said is the most difficult song he’s ever written. I cant believe this reaction vid is only 7minutes. They didnt even talk about the closure to the trilogy and the through-line in Daechwita & Haegum. 🤯🤯🤯 The enthusiasm btwn the two guys is so different lol. I love when they go through the explanation videos too and if ever they needed one, it’s in this trilogy.

Exactly. It is an uncomfortable feeling for some. I think this the type of feeling it evoked in the reactor of the right on his first listen. While the one on the left found it was incredible.

I’ve watched a lot of this channel’s videos and kind of wish the guy on the left would make his own channel. He’s always so excited and enthusiastic. They have always been honest so I respect that. I’m not saying because the guy on the right doesn’t like the song but I just never feel like he’s all that interested in BTS or their solo work or has much to say in general. That’s my opinion and maybe that’s just me =\

Agreed! I thought the exact same thing. The guy on the right doesn’t seem interested at all and for that reason I won’t be watching more. Which is unfortunate cuz I think the guy on the left would be much better alone to with a different partner.

this song is beautiful, by far my favourite on the album. i cried so much watching the music video for it for the first time and still can’t really bring myself to re-watch it. yoongi (suga) was in an accident when he was a delivery boy and he couldn’t tell his company about his shoulder injury due to the accident for fear of being kicked out of the group (as to be in a kpop group you need to do heavy choreo etc.) so he suffered through the pain for ten years until he finally got surgery to fix his shoulder. this video isn’t just an mv it is his actual life - he went through depression, s*icide attempts (which he also references in his song ‘the last’) and self harm. it was very honest of him to share his vulnerabilities with millions of people. this mv also provides clarity on why he keeps k!lling himself in his mvs. the agust d persona was created by him to show his dark side and he hid suga behind agust d. him giving himself the scar is how he hurt himself to the point he created a whole other version of himself that he has been trying to get rid of but can’t. i recommend checking out his two previous mixtapes too as it really helps you understand who agust d actually is.

I hope on Patreon you look into the meanings of the songs to make them more interesting, not being weird but there is so much packed into Suga's songs and I'm sure other artists' songs too. Breaking them down would be awesome. Look up what the amygdala is in out brains.

He put his whole heart into that and brought up painful stuff to express what he was not only feeling but also what he went threw. He's a brave person to do something like that. He's not only a genius but an amazing and brave person who deserves nothing but good things.

This is my favorite song right now. Love the deep lyrics and MV! It's really good live too. Although hearing him perform this live hurts a little each time. I can't imagine how he's been doing it on his tour rn. It's like opening old wounds everytime he performs it, but I guess he's healed enough to be able to do it. Thanks for the reaction guysss 💜💜

Note the references to almond. Our amygdala is the size and shape of an almond. There is a Korean book by the same name. It is a part of the brain which regulate our fight and flight and often involved in trauma.

There is so much in this song- the music production , the lyrics, the MV , before we even talk about Suga’s acting ability 👌. A bit odd you guys didn’t really have anything of substance to say. You don’t have to like every song and there is of course a market for just listening to a song but I think most ARMY would be looking for a more thoughtful response.

Thank you for for the reaction. This song may be too much to comprehend if you are not familiar with Yoongi’s history, or had similar experiences. I think the gentleman on the right may want to study Agust D more. This song shows how that persona was created.

I respect and appreciate Yoongi for speaking up about his truama cause it's not that easy. As a person myself had a dark past this song really helped me a lot.💜️ A song shouldn't be a massage all the time. It can be relatable for some, it can be entertaining for some, it can be inspiring for some and all. This song helped people who had dark pasts, who still going through shit, and encouraged people who haven't been through things like this but to be better like, "if he could achive all that even after these I can do this too!" that's why this is inspiring.

Jimin with his "get me out of this pandemic" mode WOW! RM with all the genres traipsing through his teen/20 years perfection. And now Yoongi putting Agust D to rest and reaffirming he and Suga are the same. If this is them on hiatus. I'll take it.

Amygdala is not just a song . Yoongi shared his traumas with us . All these things you saw in the MV, they are not just a script. IT ALL HAPPENED with him in REAL LIFE. His mother went into a surgery when he was born, he got into an accident when he was delivering orders(in rain) when was on a schedule when he got a call from his family that his father got cancer so this song is about it

Uhhh.... I've been following you guys since the beginning of your BTS journey and I could have sworn you guys normally have way more insight in your reactions. I've been waiting for your reaction to this for ages and was shocked to see it's only 7 minutes long. Don't you normally talk about lyrics and the music? Even if you didn't like it, talk about what you didn't like? This was literally just a watch. I watch reactions for the insight but I have to say if this is the way moving forward I might start skipping out on your reactions. I find myself being really picky with reactors these days 😅 no hate to you, just not what I'm here for.

AMYGDALA is an almond-shaped little part of your brain where it's main purpose is to trigger your traumatic experiences. In AMYGDALA, the whole summary explanation is that Yoongi wanted to remove these traumatic memories inside him. He wanted to get out of that dark room, and remove himself from all the pain. About Yoongi's, ARMYS are aware of his shoulder injury caused by the accident he had before debut. On the MV, he is riding a delivery man and he met into an accident that caused his shoulder injury. But, because of the fear that they will not let him debut if the company will know about the injury, he hid it from them and continued to have medications only rather that having a surgery. In 2020, he did it already because it came from a point that he can't move. The self-inflicting that he did with the cutter, some ARMYS believed the scar that Agust D had was self-inflicted. He mentioned that already once in his song "The Last" that when his doctor asked him, he admitted that he did that. The thing about his parents, it's the first time we heard about that. An ARMY on twitter explained some of the points that can be seen through the MV. First is about the scar. Out of all the MVs that he had scars, some of us thought that it was just a scar, on the interview he did for Daecwhita, he admitted that it was just an idea and there's no meaning behind it. But now that he used the same scar in this MV, doing it by himself, maybe the scar all this time is self-inflicted. He switched his facial expression as Agust D when he had the scar which means that this persona is angry because it was in pain. As quoted, "Agust D was never a villain, he is just broken." It's also a way to understand why he usually k**ls the personas in the Daecwhita and Haegeum, because it's a metaphor of removing his past self (who's in pain and lives in anger) in the present him. He is no longer in pain, and in the midst of anger, Agust D is fading inside him. Because he is already at peace. AMYGDALA is not Agust D, its Min Yoongi himself. For him to be this brave to tell a whole story line of his past traumatic experiences was something to be proud and admire of. It takes a lot of courage to do that. We can now clearly understand why this is his favorite among the things that he produced and wrote. He mentioned how hard it is for him to write this as he always gets emotional every time because it is very personal for him. It's his own story. At the end of the MV, he never got out. It means that he already accepted that he will forever live with these memories.

Yoongi got into an accident while he was a delivery boy and debuted with a broken shoulder, had his surgery done only in 2020, no one can imagine the pain he went through all these years not just physically but mentally with all those things happening, everyone sees how great bts is but no one talks about how hard it was for them individually and as a group while they were still so young💔

Hmmm… sorry I don’t know your names, but the guy on the right didn’t really even look awake for this. (Could he still not see the captions?) I guess not everyone will understand this song and video, though I’m not sure how that’s possible when it’s practically spelled out word for word and frame by frame. But one of you did. Edit: I’m not saying you have to like every song, for this song it’s more important to understand it.
