A GREAT and little known song by Al Green is Take Me To The River. Listen to it and it will become an instant favorite. Offers more "grit" than his more popular songs, but you still can't escape his smoothness.

This song makes me so happy. It reminds me of my happy childhood. I was 8 years old when this song was out, and I remember driving to South Carolina that summer. There weren't a lot of Black radio stations like now, so once we left Philly, we normally wouldn't hear any Black music until we got to DC, and no more until North Carolina. (Which actually wasn't a bad thing because I was introduced to GREAT music I wouldn't have heard otherwise.) However, we heard this all the way down and all the way back. The incomparable song stylist Al Green was EVERY WHERE back then. ✨️😊💛

Al Green was torn between singing R&B and singing for the Lord. You are right, look on KZbin and you can find all kind of info on Al Green. In my opinion, his music will stand toe toe with the best!!!!
