The record label really liked Amy not only because she could sing her ass of but she was the opposite of the "pop star" that were out. She didn't sound the same. She was like a throwback to earlier jazz & soul vibes. Her clothes & hair didnt look like other young female singers. That voice. She was so talented. She died at age 28 of alcohol poisoning. She was sick for a long time. She just couldn't recover from her addictions. Incredibly sad.
@brynneholt19903 жыл бұрын
She actually died at 27, like so many others. In addition to her substance abuse, she also had eating disorders which probably weakened her body even more. I would recommend her AOL Sessions performances of In My Bed, Stronger than Me, and Love is Blind. Those are songs she wrote, as opposed to this one. Her lyrics were out of this world.

She should have never been left alone!!!! She said in Rehab… I don’t want to drink no more I just need a friend… maybe Valerie was a friend who she lost for some reason and was asking about her life and hair and shopping… she was lonely surrounded by people… no one REALLY CARED ABOUT AMY AS A PERSON NOT A SALES PRODUCT!!!! I wish I had been her friend… she would still be here singing!!!!! RIP my friend Amy….❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😢

She combined several musical genre's and Jazz was so important to her. She admired the old greats, like Ella Fitzgeal, Billie Holiday, Tony Bennet, etc. She stylized the songs her way though, such a one of a kind artist. There is a docu film "AMY" that I'd recommend as a bio of hert. She once said that she was afraid she couldn't handle fame, and it crushed her. RIP Amy. The whole world did her dirty. I'll never forget how the press and public tried to take what dignity she had left on a daily basis. The farther she fell into her addiction the more they made jokes, ridiculed and mocked her. I remember her on the cover of every tabloid looking skeletal, crying, bloodied and disheveled and all the people could do was make jokes. She really was a music genius though. She was the Billie Holiday of my generation.

She was dealing with trauma in her own way,, and it's heartbreaking to see what a human can do to themselves, especially without a good support system. Her movements though, aren't necessarily from her addition... a lot of artists move in weird ways... or have "ugly face" when they perform... I'm one of them. Some artist feel the music... and it shows. 😘

@@jboogie9469 For real.. Put any great vocalist on a stationary couch like that where they have to hit different vocal levels and watch every single one of them move all around and do random hand/head/body etc. movements.. no doubt she had her problems which is obviously very well documented and absolutely ruined some of her live performances but the movements in this specific video have nothing to do with that.

A lovely song for Xmas. A Winter's Tale by Queen; the last song Freddie wrote and died months later. He was in his place in Switzerland and wrote this by looking out the window and the incredible beauty..........he was losing his eyesight and instead of feeling sorry for himself he created a song about the beauty surrounding him. It is sooo beautiful. He did this song in one take and it's his handwriting of the lyrics in the video done years after his death.

What a true talent and gone way too soon. You should check out her song Back to Black, another great song. Also, Angelina Jordan covered this song as well, however, since she was kind of young when she did this, her mom made her change the lyrics so it was more kid friendly. Amy is one of Angelina's singing influences and you can kind of hear it when she sings. Also, check out Amy's hit called Rehab as well.
