My mum passed 2020, and I cannot think of how scared she was, and this song always makes me cry... Becuse at the end when I held my mum.. The end of this song is like her soul leaving her. And going towards the sky. Up and up.. My beautiful mum sleep well... Beautiful song...

I absolutely love how respectful you always are Adam. Your reactions are a joy to watch and i watch the videos even if i'm not a huge fan of the music, i watch anyways cause you make it interesting and you always give a good review shining a new light on the music and artist, giving your perspective on it, which is, as i said, always incredibly respectful with full integrity to the performers and your self. Congratz on your 15K Adam, it is well deserved and i am not surprised at all, and still climbing, so hitting 20K is going to happen sooner than you think ;) thank you again, for a great reaction to an artist i have never heard of, and i was just like you in the beginning, apprehensive to the heavy vibrato, but the feelings coming through her voice is stunning and it draws you in, i will be listening to some more i believe :)

So happy that you reacted to Antony & the Johnsons! I myself recommended them to you some time ago, and you told me that someone else had also been advocating for them. The album "Hope There's Someone" is on, I Am A Bird Now[, contains several more beautiful, excellent tracks. Antony & the Johnsons also have some gorgeous b-sides & covers. It would be a challenge to narrow down 1 or 2 suggestions for a second reaction, but I think I'll list my favorite Antony & the Johnsons songs here just in case it would interest any other fans: Rapture Cripple and the Starfish Hope There's Someone Spiralling Bird Gerhl You Are My Sister Another World Epilepsy Is Dancing For Today I Am A Boy The Lake Frankenstein Paddy's Gone Just One Star Soft Black Stars I Fell In Love With A Dead Boy

I'm crying. Antony! ❤ So happy you're reacting to them. I hope you'll continue, all their songs are amazing and unlike anything I've ever heard. Antony, now Ahnoni, is such a beatiful beatiful person. A lot of her songs are about her experiences about being trans. She can sing in a very powerful way as well. Like Hitler in my heart. Her voice is very special and I understand it can't be for everyone. To me, my life changed the minute I heard that voice. Great reaction! And love that you're honest.

Yesss!!! I still recall the very first time hearing her 20 some odd years ago. I was searching online for Nina Simone and randomly stumbled across a live recording of “Be my husband” and thinking I MUST find out more about Antony & The Johnsons. Also, she did a gorgeous live performance with Boy George that’s worth a listen. I’ll try to find the link.

his cover of Cohens "Guests" - is pure magic - and his Cohen cover "If it be your will" was the bands brakethrough. "If it be your will" , gives an insight in Anony/Antony´s art. I highly recomend thouse two songs. kzbin.info?search_query=antony+and+the+johnsons+the+guests and kzbin.info/www/bejne/np-0q2uDnMtjras - absolute art these two versions. And it is easy to accept the vibrato on these two. There is also quite a few interesting new songs under the name "Anoni". But to me, Antony Hegarty -was the band "Antony and the Jonsons"

Hey Adam, I was wondering who is benefitting from that gender and pronoun-related sort of trigger warning in the beginning of your video reaction. I feel like you were genuinely well-intentioned, nevertheless from my perspective the best way for cis people to be respectful towards trans people is to stop sensationalizing trans existance and decentering the cis-produced reality. In case you were afraid that if you would have directly addressed Anohni with her pronoun (not the pronoun she "prefers", as much as you don't simply "prefer" to be addressed with he/him pronoun) someone in your audience would have freaked out, I think if ppl are interested in getting deeper into the background of an artist they know nothing about, the web is full of informations and interviews and all sorts of resources one can educate themselves with
@AdamStraughan4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your perspective. It wasn’t my intent to ‘sensationalise’ trans existence, but more to highlight my use of pronouns in respect of how she is known now as Anohni compared to when the song was released under the name Anthony and the Johnsons. It certainly wasn’t my intention to attempt to educate, but rather keeping my approach respectful to such a wonderful artist. It certainly was not my intent for anything other than that. I really appreciate your comment and it has honestly given me a lot to think on and take on board for future videos. Thank you.
