⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : ) It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage. This song had it's world premiere the previous night. The 'Mischief of the Metal Gods' instrumental often precedes 'Rondo of Nightmare', but not always. This was the Black Night at Budokan in 2014, with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums. And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that. His custom model is built for him by Atelier Z. Su sang three solo songs that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. Not to worry, Yui and Moa (as "Black BABYMETAL") had two of their own songs without Su. And of course all three performed a bunch of songs together. I already liked BABYMETAL, but those solo songs from Su made me a die hard fan. Dancing on a small raised platform in the dark demonstrates courage. Following up an introduction where each Kami Band member shows off their skills with a solo, shows total fearlessness. : )

Great reaction. Queen Su, aged just 16 at the time, rising up from below the stage and courageous enough to follow that intro from the Kami Band - and not only to follow it but then making the stage her own. This was only the second time she had performed this song live - first time was the night before, but she made it look and sound like she'd been singing it for years. The Kami Band that night were Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (yes it is a 6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). 'Rondo of Nightmare' is possibly their darkest song lyrically. Rondo is a musical term meaning something like a repeated theme. They have borrowed the term as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare being chased through the dark by something she can't see. Finally she hides in or by a well or a fountain but it is still coming closer and, accepting there is no escape, she asks that if she is to die won't it at least show itself first.

I think what's lost on a lotta people is Su has no fear. According to others for her to be on that platform with not rope support is well...it's not only that it's smaller to her than it seems to us but also the lights are probably blinding her the whole time so she's not able to see the edges. The dedication and practice is unbelievable. God, I love Babymetal.

Kamiband : We're gonna blow your minds with our awesome solos! Sumetal : Hold my matcha latte.... Love watching the drummer Hideki in this, when the camera pan to him in the beginning, he looks like he's just casually drumming and not responsible for the machine like pounding in the background with the double kicks. Most singers might get intimidated having to follow the spectacular performance by the Kamiband, but 16yr old Su just gets up there, and shows you why Babymetal was built around her. 🤘🦊🤘

Babymetal does keep surprising, it's something they seem to really work hard on. With all their talents on full display. I can kind of imagine what this performance would be like in the UK, because I was at Wembley Arena in 2016 when Babymetal performed their own stage show. This song wasn't performed by Su-metal, it was Akatsuki and Amore. And the intro by the Kami band was before Catch Me If You Can.

The Kamiband shows their talent frequently, but SuMetal blows down the audience with her sheer ability to sing. I remember back to 2012 watching the Fine brothers KZbinrs react channel and in the video they showed BabyMetal's Doki Doki Morning song which had just been released. From that day in 2012 to now I have absolutely loved the three girls and the backing band to bits and bought almost everything that they sold.

As far as collaborations are concerned, Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce contributed guitar tracks for 'Road of Resistance', and DragonForce performed it on stage with BABYMETAL at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2015. That's the same year BABYMETAL won the Breakthrough Award. There's an alternate "Nemesis" version of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai', found on limited editions of the single. It features guitars recorded by former Arch Enemy guitarist Christopher Amott. There were a lot of collaborations on the third studio album 'Metal Galaxy'. The song 'PA PA YA!!' features Thai rapper F.HERO. 'Oh! MAJINAI' features Joakim Brodén, from the band Sabaton. The studio version of 'DA DA DANCE' features Tak Matsumoto from the rock duo B'z. Texas based band Polyphia are featured on the track 'Brand New Day' and Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy is on the 'Metal Galaxy' version of 'Distortion'.

My favorite of the Su-metal solo songs and my favorite performance of it. Some folks prefer the later 2015 Yokohama performance and understandably so. But here, with Su- up on the platform literally waltzing to the heavy metal chorus while the band plays on the slowly rotating stage below gives the impression of a music box. And then when Su- comes in with that "scream" on pitch and on time... My many decades ago 16-year old self fell completely gobsmacked in love with Su-metal. BTW, you pronounced it correctly, rondo is a musical term (from the Italian) meaning a musical form with a repeated theme (chorus) where each verse is given a different musical treatment. Some definitions say that the theme must be stated first, but that is not a requirement according to the Oxford Dictionary of Music (whichever edition I have). Here it refers not just to the form of the song but also the story told in the lyrics: ("Akumo no Rondo ga") "a rondo of nightmare" is repeating. Tis brilliantly self-referential.

That is indeed a six-string bass guitar that -Death- BOH is playing. I used to think it sounded a bit too geared toward the high end, but then I played a six string for the first time back in November and realized that that seems to be how they're made. Plus, BOH is a fantastic musician, and that's how he does his solos. No worries. As for a suggestion, one song from BM that received an official music video yet I feel is under-reacted to is "Shanti Shanti Shanti" from the "Metal Galaxy" album.

Rondo Of Nightmare/With Mischief Of God Intro. (Nippon Budokan Black Night):- This is one of 4 Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) solo songs. The other 3 are:- 1. "Amore" (Wembley Arena). 2. "No Rain No Rainbow" (Legend A Baptism XX). 3. "Akatsuki" (Same Venue, Nippon Budokan Black Night) Rondo Of Nightmare/With Mischief Of God Intro:- Babymetal:- Babymetal (Japanese: ベビーメタル, Hepburn: Bebīmetaru) (stylized in all caps) is a Japanese kawaii metal band. The band consists of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal" (Vocal and Dance) and Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal" (Scream and Dance). The band is produced by Kobametal from the Amuse talent agency. Their vocals are backed by heavy metal instrumentation, performed by a group of session musicians known as the "Kami Band" at performances. KamiBand:- "The KamiBand are the instrumentalists (or backing band) in BABYMETAL - Each member is a "god (Kami) of music" summoned by The Fox God stage by stage. All the Kamis have their own jobs and side-projects in addition to BABYMETAL". Current Members Who Perform At Nippon Budokan:- •Takayoshi Ohmura (Guitar, ESP SNAPPER-7/R Gold & Twinkle Pink). •Leda Cygnus (Guitar, ESP BLUE CUSTOM). •Daisuke 'BOH' Bohte (Bass, ATELIER Z BETA 6, Boh'S CUSTOM 6). •Aoyama Hideki (Drums, YAMAHA Signature Drum Kit). BABYMETAL is the youngest act to perform at the Budokan and artists need to be invited to perform there. Live at Budokan: Red Night & Black Night Apocalypse (stylized as LIVE AT BUDOKAN ~RED NIGHT & BLACK NIGHT APOCALYPSE~) is the third live video release by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. It contains two concerts performed at Nippon Budokan shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album, and was released on January 7, 2015 in a standard edition and a limited-edition box set exclusively for "The One" fanclub members. Nippon Budokan:- Nippon Budokan (日本武道館, Nippon Budōkan), often shortened to simply Budokan, is an indoor arena located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. Originally built for the inaugural Olympic judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics, its name translates as Martial Arts Hall in English. While its primary purpose is to host martial arts contests, the arena has gained additional fame as one of the world's most iconic musical performance venues. A number of famous rock music acts have played at Budokan. The Beatles were the first rock group to play there in a series of concerts held between June 30 and July 2, 1966. ABBA ended their last tour there. Their final show on March 27, 1980, was the last live concert ABBA performed together. Numerous acts have recorded live albums at Budokan, including Bryan Adams, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Cheap Trick, Dream Theater, Duran Duran, Kiss, Mr. Big, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Journey and Deep Purple. Here we get The Kami Band doing the "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" intro with Aoyama Hideki (drums), BOH (6 string bass), Takayoshi Ohmura (7 string gold guitar), Leda Cygnus (blue guitar). RON is a fairly "progressive" metal song as its time signature is pretty fluid and jumps about to create a feeing of uncertainly. It's also one of Su's solos that allow her to show her individual talent and give Moa and Yui a chance to rest. Having the options of BM, Su solo, BBM and Kami Band solos gave the original BM great flexibility in concert content. This concert is Budokan Black Night in 2014 so Su was just 16 years old. RON is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The repetitive nature of a "rondo" makes this even more frightening and that's explicitly said in the lyrics. I think that the changing time signatures and dissonance of the music are there to make us feel uncomfortable and keep us off balance. The final chorus is as unsettling as the time signatures and offers no happy resolution: (translation from du-metal) It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness. Some reviewers mention that the song ends very abruptly and that it's hard to settle into...the lyrics imply that there's no hope of waking, but that's often what you feel when you are in a nightmare and then you wake as suddenly as the song ends. If you want more BM progy goodness listen to "Tales of the Destinies".

For me the most impressive thing about Su's performance here is she goes sliiiiiightly off key at one brief moment towards the end which means this was truly live, not a backing track or "sweetened" audio. And yes that's a 6 string bass, BOH is an amazing bass player. IIRC the one in this video was the blueprint for his Atelier Z signature series bass.

There are quite a few of these Kami intros in the live videos. Of course during this Moa and Yui were having a rest from their exertions; just as Suzuka had a rest during Black Babymetal interludes. BOH is playing a 6 string Contra bass here (he frequently swaps his bass during a concert). Apart from in Japan bass solos are rare in hard rock and in metal; however they are common in math rock and in jazz fusion - both BOH and the late Mikio had their musical roots in fusion. For another fabulous Japanese bassist you should check out Margaret Hiroi of 88KASYO Junrei. Also, Su’s voice effect was not electronic; she physically constricted her vocal cords before returning to the soaring vocals

Yes, 6 string base! Recommend "Megitsune" for the next Babymetal song and also "Unlucky Morpheus" for next Japanese band. Try the song called Black Pentagram to start off your journey 🤘

Now im a fan for 6 years and saw them live 1 time in Belgium This can't be compared to anything else. Everything is great and they have a very big fandom all over the world Keep enjoying!!

Nice one, thanks! I believe you enjoyed BOH's solo, right? 🤣 🤣 🤣 "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, and she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide from. Finally she gives up and ask the entity to show its real nature. This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and high platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due the spotlight Wonder why she's called the Queen? Another interesting fact is that this one was Su's third solo song of the concert (after "No rain no rainbow" and "Akatsuki"). And the only time this has happened.

First you hear the awesome Kami-band doin what they do best and now anyone who doesn't know Babymetal, would ecpect a singer like Joakim Broden coming on stage. Instead our "smol" Queen emerges from a hole in the ground, stares you down and sings the way only she can...What can I say? Greets from Germany and keep on rockin!

Awesome reaction yet again! Glad you checked out this iconic Su-Metal solo song!!! Another Su solo piece that is even a little more epic in my opinion is Akatsuki (Live Black Night) kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOWaGV5arV9gq8. The whole thing is just breathtaking! Of course I have to say that Ijime Dame Zetai Live at Sonisphere 2014, UK (their first major performance outside of Asia), Syncopation, and Kagerou are super highly recommended as well! =)

Nice reaction. Su might just be showing off here a bit. Although far to humble to say so herself. as a fan I'll say it for her. Su kills it on this song. For someone who wasn't even 20 at the time to pull off such a mature performance is surprising and humbling for older singers. This is one of not the darkest Babymetal song lyrically speaking. Which is another surprise since at this time many of their songs had a far happier tone to them. The song is literally about a recurring nightmare. where the dreamer is chased by an unseen creature through the dark night. With the moonlight reflecting off its fangs and claws. The dreamer runs and hides. Until finally found. At this point Su playing the part of the dreamer. Gathers her courage and ask for the creature to reveal itself before killing her. She then falls into the darkness. Which is why the song ends the way it does. The sudden wake from a nightmare. I wouldn't be going back to sleep anytime soon after that. Su is singing the tale of this Rondo of Nightmare. Because we know she would Death Stare the creature and then it would be having a recurring nightmare about the time it foolishly went after Su-metal. In the early days of Babymetal they had built in breaks throughout the show. Here Su is giving Yui and Moa a break. Later Yui and Moa A.K.A Black Babymetal A.K.A MoiMoi will give Su a break. I don't know if they actually needed it but it could also have something to do with child labor laws. In America child performers are only allowed to be on stage for a certain amount of time. Then they have to take a break for a certain amount of time. The time length has changed over the years, but the general rule still stands. Maybe Japan has something similar. By working these breaks into the show, they can do longer shows. Since Moa's birthday is July 4th. Next reaction should be Moa doing a solo. Try "GJ" from the download festival. Originally GJ was a duo Black Babymetal song but after Yui left Moa performed it as a solo song. Super Moachan indeed.

If you liked BOH's 6 string bass solo - as well as the two guitar solos and the drum solo - then you might enjoy another performance that starts with 4 solos too. It's also the best Metal song ever about playing Hide and Seek and it even comes with English subtitles so you can sing along! It's called 'Catch Me If You Can' live at the Black Night Legend concert and the performance is a classic one (kinda like a lot of them are) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJibhpKgZcyjgqs . I think you'd also enjoy another Su solo that has a superb dual guitar breakdown as well as her fine vocal performance. It's called 'Akatsuki' and, while there are a few versions, this Black Night concert one is epic - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOWaGV5arV9gq8 . Of course, now you've done a Su solo reaction, you have to balance it out with a Black Babymetal, Yui & Moa, duet. 'Sis Anger' is heavyAF - m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIuvi5aljL9-hJI . 🦊 🤘 🤘 🦊

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 You have reacted to many Japanese bands. FYI, here is the relation that I know between BM and others. [note : BM : BABYMETAL, B-M : Band-Maid, Lb : Lovebites] ◆ B-M and Kami Band in the BM's back have been good friends for years ◆ Akane (B-M) respects guitarists of Kami Band you saw in this video ◆ Midori (Lb) and Kanami attended the funeral for Mikio (Kami's guitarist) and left their messages of condolence that were full of respect to the deceased virtuoso (RIP) ◆ Midori and BOH (Kami's bassist) are good friends. ◆ BOH and Misa (B-M) are following each other in Twitter ◆ Saki (Nemophila guitarist) is a big fan of BM ◆ Nemophila covered BM's "Megitsune" as a band ◆ Wasabi (Wagakki Band drummer) also covered "Megitsune.

Konbanwa. You missed one piece of information I was surprised by. There is a question and answer video of Midori and Asami from 2019 (if memory serves me). Midori was asked who were her guitar inspirations, or simply favorite guitarists. Midori started off by mentioning 3 Japanese guitarists and filled in (diplomatically) with others from around the world. I didn’t recognize the first guitarist yet, but the other two were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus from BM. I need to research this second point much more (I may be incorrect), but apparently Midori studied with, or perhaps under the instruction of one of these two guitarists while attending music classes at a prestigious school (university?) in Tokyo. I may be wrong on the second part, but enjoyed that video and respect for BM, even though it was a quick, respectful appreciation for BM. Let me know if you want the link.

@@michelm.6033 Thanks JG. I did not know the relation between Midori and Leda / Ohmura. Then I found Midori's tweet on Apr.24, 2018. She said she worked as a staff in the backstage for the memorial concert for Mikio the day before. She was grateful to be a part of the work. Leda replied to her tweet expressing his gratitude. Another discovery is that Midori and Ohmura were communicating each other via. Twitter. Ohmura congratulated her birthday on MIdori's birthday, May 28, this year and she replied to him saying "Thank you very much! I am always grateful to your thoughtfulness and I will rely on you for some support again". Ohmura replied her "Anytime at your service". So I should have written "Kanami and Midori respect guitarists of Kami Band" (Akane is my typo 😅)

As Wagner stated below "Oh Majinai" is a great collaboration with Sabbaton's lead singer. Also, you may have noticed Yui and Moa missing from this. The girls give each other breathers during the concert. Sui gets a break when Black Babymetal (Yui and Moa) perform. "Onedari Daisakusen" is my favorite Black Babymetal song. It translates to "Begging Operation" and is about the girls begging dad for money and presents. This is the definition of Kawaii Metal.
