50 yrs 1972 - 2022 ( 55 yrs as a group 1967 "Soft White Underbelly", "Oaxaca", "Stalk Forrest Group", "BOC"), You cannot define this band in any category, they fit in so many that they are confused with others. They are still playing live (their moto is "On Tour Forever") and just released their 2020 new album called "The Symbol Remains" listen to "the Alchemist". If you are in the LA area they will be here on May 30 LA County Fair with the band Kansas and in San Diego Aug 5

BOC and others were the bands I got introduced to when FM radio started to get big. That was where all of the non-mainstream groups were. AM was so full of bubble gum trash. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, BOC, Frank Zappa, Johnny Inter, Edgar Winter and so many others had a cult level impact because of FM. FYI: I graduated High School in 1976.

I forgot to mention Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.), Yes, Golden Earring and so many, many others. Songs weren’t limited to the standard 2 1/2 - 3 minutes either. Some tracks were 15 - 20 minutes long. Do yourself a solid and listen to the tracks from Deep Purple’s “Made In Japan” album. The songs on that are so much better than the studio versions. Even the members of Deep Purple said that something about that tour clicked and they were at their absolute finest.

The first rock song I love at 10years old because my older brother had Moving Pictures was Tom Sawyer.At least once a day I'd be downstairs in my oldest 2brothers room singing learning the words. My brothers apparently thought this was hilarious and when their friends would come over they'd ask me to sing it.i really got into the chorus.🤣 I'm 49 this remains my favorite group.

Went to their concert in the late 70s. It was in a symphony orchestra hall so the acoustics were fantastic with built in speakers all over. They actually played for three hours. Another big hit for them was Burnin' For You. Thank you for listening to these great suggestions.

I can’t hear this song without thinking of Stephen King’s The Stand. My older cousin was a major King Stan & when she found out I was reading all his books and The Stand was easily my all time fav book ever, (it shares top spot with Max Brooks’ World War Z now) she told me to watch the miniseries that had been made of it. It starts with this song & it legit gave me the chills. I usually only get chills over really gross sht like exploding pus or grotesque foot fungus vids. It was just perfect playing over the beginning of a viral apocalypse. The rest of the mini series was ok, but that opening scene was just so tight. Also you should watch Will Farrell and snl doing a skit about the making of this song. My brother in law is a libertarian and I’m half way to communist, but we watch that vid together routinely & it never gets old. It’s stupid dumb but in the best way.

They have way more than "a handful of good songs" if you start digging deep into their albums. My 'Best Of' play list is nearly four hours long (46 songs). The only play lists that I have longer than that are Pink Floyd and Rush. Not saying they are in the same league as those bands, but you get my point. Wish I could have been there for that AC/DC concert.

Blue Oyster Cult ( or B.O.C.) dominated the 70's decade w/ their brand of dual-guitar rock and lyrics inspired by sci-fi and fantasy fiction themes. They debuted in 1972... but their break came in 1974 w/ the 3rd album 'Secret treaties'... This song was off their 4th album 'Agents of fortune' in 1976, and B.O.C. were playing arenas at that point. The band's 1981 album 'Fire of unknown origin' was their last commercial success... After that, B.O.C. fell out of favor in the 80's, despite carrying on & releasing new music into the 90's. Eric Bloom (guitar/ keys/ vocals) and Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser (guitar/ vocals) are the only original members left from their inception... B.O.C. would tour often, but only recently released a new album - 'The symbol remains' in 2020 (Their last album was in 2001 - 'Curse of the Hidden Mirror') . B.O.C. is sadly overlooked today, w/ their early hits keeping them in business... Blue Oyster Cult classics - 'Godzilla' ... 'Burning for you' ... 'Astronomy' ... "Cities on flame with rock n' roll"... "This ain't the summer of love"

One of their best and most popular songs, they were an awesome band, especially the original band from the 70s who should be in the HOF. Some more great tunes are Cities On Flames With Rock and Roll, Godzilla, ODed on Life and Nosferatu. One of the pioneering bands that leads to metal and they have many great albums. 19 times I saw them between 1972 and 2012, they never let me down and between the 5 guitar onslaught I saw in the early days and the incredible laser light shows a few years later, this band had the show and the chops to play with anyone else. (Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Scorpions, UFO, Aerosmith, amongst many others). Enjoy! 🎸
