This is pre ny drill that’s one of the reasons why it was and it was at a time were ny didn’t have much of a modern regional style. Remember drill started in Chicago and this is way more similar to what chief keel used to do

Very true, I think people kinda don’t realize that NY was missing a regional sound/style for a very long time, all while ATL and the west coast (on a smaller scale) were finding their new modern sound. The biggest NY artist at the time was probably A$AP Rocky who hadn’t even dropped his second album and was most notable for taking Houston influence on his first mixtape. That and Nicki Minaj who doesn’t ideally fit the “New York Sound.”
