This song debuted at #1 and stayed there for 16 weeks, it held that spot for 20 plus years (was the longest running #1 on the hot 100 until lil Nas came along) Mariah and boys 2 men did that in the physical era. it was song of the decade for the 90s as well. Another fun fact mariah's song we belong together in 2005 is also song of the decade for the 2000s.. twice she has gotten that in a row, nobody else has ever done that.

Left out that One Sweet Day made Mariah the first artist in history to have 2 songs debut at #1 when Billboard rules were tougher. She wrote most of it but she decided to talk with Boyz II Men and they had something very similar. They both had lost somebody important in their lives because of Aids, that's why the conviction, sound, love and sorrow at the same time simply drips like water on a fountain. So sad that the song with 1000 remixes and about a horse dethroned this masterpiece. This song is for comfort of your mind and heart.

When I was 13 my sister died in a car accident she was 16 years old, it happened on Nov 22nd 1995. This song was released on Nov 14 1995 just one week prior to her passing. I can't help but feel it was devine timing as this song though still makes me cry also helps me keep her memory alive.

"All hail and bow to Mariah Carey, The Queen of Divas, Protector of the vocal skills from the realm, Archiduchess of Vocal range/registers, Empress of agility, The unmatched, The Mellisma mother, The Goddess of Songwriting and producing, The one often imitated, but never duplicated, The embodiment of pure success",. This song came out when I suddenly lost my dad. It was as if it was written for me. After all these years, it can still bring me to tears, even though the happy memories of my dad far outweigh the grief of losing him.

As a kid I sang this many times and paid attention to the technical aspects of the song and it nevet hit hard enough to make me cry even though I had lost a loved one. But now as an adult I can't get through it without crying because the list is so much longer and so many more memories 💔 Great reaction!

This song was also interesting as far as the technology of the time was concerned. Billboard was only a few years into using the Sound Scan system which weighed both sales and airplay more accurately. This song was just epic in both sales and airplay. It was untouchable for a very long time.

You should listen to the tribute for Paul Walker when he passed back in 2013. It's called See you again by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth. If you're a fan of Fast and the Furious, you probably would have heard it, but if not, you should check it out. Made me cry and it still does when I hear it. Paul Walker passing was the only one who hit me when I heard about it.
