J-hope was the main songwriter, I love how this has his style all over it. It’s about how j-hope (and all bts) were struggling during their forced work break when covid hit and all their schedules/concerts/plans were cancelled. All of them are extreme workaholics who didn’t know how to handle the sudden uncomfortable free time they were forced to have, so that’s the disease (+ “dis-ease” means “un-comfortable”). Like j-hope said: The uncomfortable happiness that has come to me suddenly 24 hours, I have so much time Even if I sleep all day long, there’s no problem now It feels like I should be doing something to the point my body shatters, but I’m just a bastard who eats all three meals a day

❣️It took Jimin only 3 minutes to write the amazing bridge to this song that made all the difference and kicked this song up to another level! It was Pdogg, the producer who worked on the song, after hearing Jimin humming to a part of song had no melody nor lyrics yet, who suggested that Jimin do the bridge of the song! Jimin has worked with Pdogg several times before, while Jimin was writing, composing and helping produce Jimin’s song “Friends”, as well as worked alongside with Jimin, along with mainly a couple of other producers, for his whole FACE album! Jimin worked so close to Pdogg, one of the legendary in-house genius producers for BigHit/HYBE while creating his FACE album that he pretty much stayed over Pdogg’s house, all of the 10 months it took to create the album!

This is the biggest exaggeration and misunderstanding of Jimin's words that Jimin's fans repeat over and over again. Jimin didn't create the bridge in this song himself. He probably hummed some melody that was later used to create his bridge, but this is completely different from the composition. There is an interview with J-Hope where he explains how the song was created and clearly states that he composed Dis-ease and how he collaborated with Jimin and RM on the bridge. He said that "Jimin helped with the overall melody and I organized and edited at the end , for the lyrics I asked our leader Namjooon". So no, he didn't write this bridge in only 3 minutes...and btw It's interesting that if Jimin is such a great musican why is he neither the composer nor the main lyricist on his first solo album?

@@abbiem7773 Jimin in the interview is echoing what j-hope said, that he came up with the melody for the bridge. It's different from completely writing that part, lyrics and all. Usually for demos like in Proof CD 3 they only have the melody and temporary lyrics sometimes gibberish. @crowzeee is right. Jimin hummed the amazing melody for the bridge, RM wrote the lyrics, then j-hope cleaned it up. It was a collaborative process, it's an over exaggeration to say he worked on the whole bridge by himself in 3 minutes.

He hummed the melody, which was then used to create the bridge, so as J-Hope said, Jimin helped with the „OVERALL" melody, but what you hear on the record, the final product, the entire composition, is J-Hope's work, because he „organized and edited at the end” and Namjoon wrote the lyrics. Jimin talked about this bridge for a whole 30 seconds in this interview , nothing about being in the studio, nothing about writing lyrics, nothing about composition… he had nothing to say. I don't deny that he took part in it, but being a part of something and being a creator are completely different things. And Jimini's fans repeat Jimin's words that he created this bridge in three minutes (that we hear on the album) - exacty like you and state it as a fact... and this total nonsense.

Its been explained in anotehr comment abt the word play on Dis-ease, but its also talked about in their raps. Like you said, theyre talking about mental health, and different facets of it in their rap. Just to point out, in J-hope's rap, he mentioned how they suddenly got a lot of rest, sleeping whole day is "now no problem" (while before that, their schedules were jam-packed), insinuating how the pandemic affected everyone, classess canceled, people quarantined, everyone stayed at home etc, and personally to them, prior to the pandemic they were just about to go off on a world tour, practices, shows, flights, talk shows, radio interveiws, etc -- everything got cancelled. And j-hope talked abt sipping coffee, tryna cool down his anxiety abt how "rest" is a biting dog and its biting his a$$, and that rest is somehow inducing his anxiety bc he feels like he needs to be doing sthg (or anything, really. This was when the world was locked down),,, and they wonder is that feeling a kinda of illness as well (I persoanlly love this bc the pandemic did not only affected physical health but affected people's mental health as well, with people feeling depressed, hopeless, fear for their loved ones, and,isolated)

I find it amazing how many ppl these days don’t seem to recognize Jimin’s high notes like they used! So many, especially antis have been insisting many of Jimin’s so obvious, so distinctive, recognizable, unique high notes are other members like, Jin’s in this case here, I’ve noticed many insisting it’s Jin! 😊

It’s the opposite… there are tons of times when Jin’s high notes are credited to someone else. Whether it be Crystal Snow, Dis-ease, Dionysis, Dimple etc..etc..etc.. Jin has hit those notes even in live performances but people still insist that he is not the one doing those insane notes. Please check our Jin’s fancams because since camera is not on him, when he is singing, people get away with spreading the wrong narrative.

So you were right, but also like, not right. This song was written by J-Hope during quarantine in the early days of the Covid Pandemic. (Except for the bridge which was written by Jimin) but rather than talking about Covid itself, it more talks about what quarantine was doing to their mental health. J-Hope’s verse talks about how he sleeps all day and how that makes him uncomfortable. RM uses his amazing wordplay do describe how not working is driving him crazy. Since ill in Korean can mean work, or can also mean day. He uses both of those meanings plus throws in the English meaning for the word ill. My take on Suga’s verse is that he has used his Covid down time to contemplate all the problems in the world and it has made him sick how the world is so diseased. Pretty typical of Suga who when an interviewer in September of 2020 asked each member what they were interested in other than music, Suga said,” World Peace.” While Jungkook said,”Making Pizza.”

0:54 - 1:42 Y'all are such a trip LMAO 😂 and is that ice cream mochi?? I never got to try that kind properly bc it was a completely melted mess when I opened it. Guess it melted in the car 🤷‍♀️ anyway, Thanks for the shoutout 😌 Also, this song and entire album was created during the pandemic so maybe that's what Bobby read in the comments. The word "Dis-ease" is a play on words with multiple meanings throughout the song (pretty sure there's a DKDK explained video for this song) but the corona virus disease is implied as well as word play with "Dis-ease" meaning "un-ease/uneasy." So yeah, it's really well thought out. Ik we all hated the pandemic but at least we got some bangers out of it! BTS are artists and will use anything as inspiration. RM and Suga killed it, their parts are my favorites!! Suga's flow gives me goosebumps everytime, he just knows how to rap over any beat, it's amazing. Fun fact: Jimin wrote the bridge of this song in under 5 minutes. And everyone was obsessed with it when the song first dropped. Side note: The fact that you guys just slowly became fans so naturally is great to see. And mainly through music too! But trust me when I say there's still sooo much more to know lol. I just wanna say, thank y'all for being open minded and giving the guys a chance, I love seeing male fans as part of Army. (and there's a lot more of y'all then you think) I support the fanboys!
