First off clarification black pink is the biggest girl group in K pop yes! BTS are not the biggest boy group in K pop they are the biggest group in the world! As far as I know black pink has never had a number one album on billboard Hot 100 in the United States. BTS has had five albums debut at number one on billboard in the United States! Black pink is not had a number one song on billboard! BTS has had five or six number one songs on billboard in the United States since the fall of 2020! Which K pop group won artist of the year at the American Music Awards this year BTS not black pink. Which group has won top social artist at the Billboard Music Awards five or six years in a row well it wasn't black pink. Which K pop group performed live at the United Nations BTS! Black pink was not invited to the White House to meet the president and talk about anti-Asian hate crimes and inclusion but BTS was! Which K pop group was awarded by the South Korean government for promoting Korean music and culture around the world BTS. Which K pop group were made special presidential envoys of the Republic of Korea and presented with red diplomatic passports just weeks ahead of their third speech at the United Nations BTS. Lastly which K pop group is the first group in history since The Beatles to have 3 #1 albums in less than one year?

BTS writes, composes and produces their own music but Blackpink doesn't. BTS also started in a small company that was nearly bankrupt and grew to be so successful that their company is now the biggest in Korea. Blackpink's company was one of the biggest so they had it pretty easy in comparison. BTS is bigger than most Western musical acts and while Blackpink it the one of the best known female kpop groups they aren't at the same level as the biggest Western artists like BTS is. Those are the most obvious differences.

Sorry if anyone is being mean. Never any excuse on being mean to someone. After you get to know the group and the fandom better, you'll understand why ARMY are so protective and why BTS are not like anyone but BTS. Looking forward to your next reactions. Keep asking questions; we're here and will help where we can. One thing that might help is to react to one of the fan-made videos that tells about them and their story. A good intro video that is a couple of years old but tells a bit about them and their story without revealing too much of their music (in case you don't like to hear clips of their music until you have reacted to those songs/MVs) (by xCeleste): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZSohHSImtl8b7c A more recent video that tells more about how they came to be and about each member and has some clips of their music in the background of the video (by Taylor): kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqa5kKx_md2Nhrs

If they sound cocky to you it’s just because you are new to K pop and don’t know the background. Not your fault! But you see, at the time BTS came on the scene there were 3 main music companies that signed artists in Korea, called The Big 3. If you were signed to one of these labels the red carpet was automatically rolled out for you. (Black pink is signed to YG one of the Big 3) these artists had their company’s money and power behind them. They had easy access to TV appearances, endorsement deals, endless money for promotions, plus the best song writers, choreographers, and stylists. The Big 3 enjoyed having a monopoly on the music market, and so they put some effort into suppressing groups from smaller music companies (BTS for example) blocking their access to all those things I listed above. But when BTS started to get popular despite this, they spread all sorts of false rumors about them. This song is BTS saying, “we’re succeeding because we worked harder than anyone else. We did it all by ourselves. Don’t believe any lies people tell about us.” And then they turned it into a metaphor for the younger generations in Korea that are having to fight against the system to find jobs and affordable housing.

-BTS is not the male comparison of Black-Pink(Comparing BTS to Black-Pink is like comparing Michael Jackson to Little Mix. They are so incomparable) .They(BTS) are their own thing. Their sound is different from Black-Pink's and the way they came up is different from Black-Pink's come-up. Both groups are amazing and I am a fan of both, but they are very different. But I understand where you are coming from, so no hard feelings. It's understandable since you are looking at them from an outsider's point of view. -And they are not being cocky in the song. If you know their history and story, then the lyrics will make more sense(But since you don't know their history, it makes sense that the lyrics seem cocky to you). They received (and still do receive) a lot of shit and hate both from their country and internationally, so it was a way of responding to the hate remarks( although the song itself is not a diss track at all...it's a lot deeper than that. It's more about the socio-economic state of the youth in Korea and the last rapper's(RM) verse is the crust of the whole song)

Ahahaha somebody thinking BTS are cocky is the funniest thing to me 😂But it makes sense you think that since you have no context what so ever. The lyrics basically meant to say "we are the best because we work the hardest, we are the best because we reject rejection" and NOT "I am the best and you're trash". They're not dissing anyone or any group right there, they're talking about people hating on them while copying them. It's actually a motivational song while also being an answer anthem to their "haters" cause they've been going through sh**, especially in the beginning of their career. But you'll probably learn very soon that these guys are probably the most humble artists in the whole music industry. They do not let themselves be stepped on, they are definitely confident and are always promoting self-love but they are very very far from being cocky or snobby 😊 As for the comparaison with Black Pink, I totally understand since they were your very first base in Kpop but Kpop isn't a genre, it's more like an industry. So the music is different but especially the groups backgrounds are different. BTS debuted within a very small company that was on the verge of bankruptcy, they built from scratches and for the last decade they LITERALLY paved the way for Kpop artists around the world. You'll learn about their incredible story that was written through their hard work (and I mean HAAARD work which again, explains the lyrics 😉)

Great that you are open to new music, but please don't compare BTS to anyone, they are just BTS. They certainly aren't the male equivalent of any girl group. Have fun getting to know them better!

BTS struggled a lot before they became a world wide phenomenon. They worked really hard to get to where they're but never forgot where they came from. Staying humble and appreciative to everyone who worked with them. Other Kpop groups who were cultured by big companies had it easier and treated BTS pretty badly. That's why BTS have songs to throw that $hit back at those people who mistreated them. MIC DROP is another song they wrote for their haters. Check out their live performances. You won't be disappointed!

Don't be afraid to give your own insights since it is your journey and you don't know anything yet. As long as people are respectful we appreciate any genuine reactions. You'll get to love them if you continue, that's a given! I'll be honest - when I saw you were reacting to BTS I checked out your channel first - and when I saw the thumbnails I thought I wouldn't enjoy your reaction (I still watched anyway). But I was pleasantly surprised - I like your honesty. If you want to know what 'DOPE' was about you should check out 'DOPE explained by a Korean' from DKDKTV. It's in English and will help put the song into context. I know it may sound boring to check out an explained video but it's really not. As for the Rappers here are a few recommendations that you might enjoy. RM (Leader of BTS/Rapper/Writer/Producer) - 'DO YOU' (a lot of people suggest JOKE but that one really needs some context) SUGA (aka AGUSTD - Rapper/Writer/Producer) - 'DAECHWITA' - this one is literally a movie. This is the guy you liked in the video. JHOPE (Dance Leader/Rapper/Writer/Producer) - 'CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP' - a collaboration with Becky G and pays tribute to the original song and creators of said song. JHope recently released his solo album titled 'JACK IN THE BOX' so a lot of people are probably going to recommend songs and videos from his most recent album and he headlined Lollapalooza (which you can watch online) featuring his music from that album and more. It was an amazing performance if you have an hour to spare.

If you are interested in seeing why BTS is different from normal bands I suggest you watch This Is BTS by Xceleste. If you are willing to watch something longer and more comprehensive There is a video by Taylor Nakamoto called Introduction to the 7 members of Bangtan. That is like, a 45ish minute video, but I can tell you from personal experience that BTS fans will happily watch you react to the whole thing. We like watching people react to guides equally as much as reacting to the music because the music is only half of the package that you get with BTS. But for other BTS music I suggest, On Kinetic Manifesto, or Daechwita (which is a solo by that rapper you liked)

I'm sorry ppl are coming after you for making comparisons - it's not really fair.... It's 100% normal for humans being introduced to something new...We are actually trying to understand it better by creating links in our minds to something we are already familiar with and EVERYONE does it.... Think about how when ppl try a new food, they say, "Oh, this reminds me of _____, it kind of tastes like a mix between ____ and _____." When reactors make comparisons, many of them (NOT YOU) do it with the obvious attitude of writing-off BTS as "just another boyband, like One Direction"...Fans recognize this attitude for what it is: as limiting BTS' abilities to those of that other artist, and of course that upsets fans. But not every reactor is comparing with this negative attitude so we shouldn't pile on with complaints, but instead point out the differences that make BTS different and better..... For example, compared to BlackPink, BTS writes their own songs. Compared to NSync or 1D, BTS writes their own songs, raps, *and* has seven members with professional-level dance skills. IMO, there is no other artist out there who can do what BTS does. So please ignore the complainers, but also I ask you to be patient with them because they are truly coming from a place of love for their group, particularly BTS fans. BTS has received so much hate their entire career from Korean kpop and hip-hop fans in their early years, then bigotry from westerners as their popularity spread outside Korea - it's understandably made BTS fans extremely protective of the group (myself included!). I hope that despite the negativity and complaints from some ppl in your comments that you continue your journey in exploring more BTS music. It's worth the trip, IMO!! Keep up your positivity - I love it, and it's exactly the kind of attitude that BTS themselves encourage and try to share with the world!

J-Hope is the member in the car racer outfit. The blonde guy who you pointed out is Suga/Agust D. He has 2 solo mixtapes Agust D (2016) and D-2 (2020). I would recommend Daechwita from Agust D/Suga, it's a real cinematic music video and the song is a banger. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists in BTS. And all 3 rappers have their own solo mixtapes and J-Hope is the first member to release his own solo album this past July and then he headlined Lollapalooza, the first Korean artist to do so. If you like rap I would also suggest checking out BTS Cyphers 1-4. And while this song may seem cocky BTS is one of the most humble groups, they rarely brag about their achievements. And trust me it gets easier over time learning who is who. 7 is actually a pretty average number for members in a group in South Korea, some kpop groups have a lot more members like NCT that has 23 members. BTS- Bangtan Sonyeondan in Korean- Bulletproof boy scouts in English- debuted in 2013 Jin age 29 vocalist Suga age 29 rapper J-Hope age 28 rapper RM age 28 group leader and rapper Jimin age 26 vocalist V age 26 vocalist Jungkook age 25 vocalist

This song is a shout-out to hardworking youth (but applicable to all ages actually) , and a call-out for slackers. BTS is known for their lyrics that talk about their own experiences, social issues, mental health, etc. Their messages are relatable to people of different ages, genders, race, etc. BTS ARMY is the biggest fandom and this is one of the many reasons why. You aren't wrong to say they're cocky in this song - they are :) They're telling everyone that they've worked damn hard to get their popularity and the haters who try to bring them down need to put up or shut up. They've sacrficed their youth for the sake of their work and it's finally paying off (this song is 7 years old - they are huge now beyond anything they could have expected). So don't whine at them and complain because you're jealous - go put in the work and you might be able to reach their heights, too. They'll talk shit to their haters but mostly they're trying to encourage people - chase your dreams with everything you have in you. There are 3 rappers - RM, who greeted us at the start, J-hope in the racing outfit who talked about dancing, sweating, and hope, and Suga who you noticed right away. The other 4 are mainly vocalists and they all dance, of course. You should watch "Fire" next - that song goes really well with this one.

I was going to write the same thing about the cocky and ruthless part, but some of fellow Armys already did. So, I just wanna say that you just need to research the background of the songs a little(Of course after the first reaction of the song. There are literally multiple decoding song lyrics channels. You can check it in your own or react to them as well). Sometimes we International Armys can't get what they want to say in first listen, but most of the songs are different and way more deeper meaning that it seems on the surface. Since you're new, so no hard feelings. Liked your reaction. Hope to watch again more BTS reactions.

In popularity yes, is like an equivalent, but any other thing, they are very different BTS debut in 2013 with 7 members from a company that was no well known and didn't have the finances to do the project but still do it, Today the company is well known thanks to BTS. Blackpink debut in 2016 with 4 members, they are from a well known and big company that is YG, and I'm not trying to say that blackpink didn't deserve or put afford to be where they are, it just a comparison.

I totally get how "Dope" might come off as cocky. Many people in the comments are already telling you the reasons for where that attitude comes from, so I won't go into that as well :) All I will say is that given how much harder they had to work because of the lack of influence their company had and all the road blocks they had to overcome, they deserve every ounce of attitude/cockiness they have. They are now dominating an industry that has tried to keep them down since the beginning. Personally, I'd really love to see you react to "BTS Festa 2021 Room Live". It's a medley that takes you through their career and gives you a look at the broad spectrum of genres they cover.

the moment u said 'male equivalents of blackpink' I decided to click away lmao. But you're still new, and I stayed cuz I really like your energy. Just a tip, don't compare fandoms or groups. Bts is a completely different group from blackpink, the whole kpop too. They are their own genre and comparing them to any other group will be doing them a disgrace. anyways, nice video! Keep them coming.

Def keep watching more BTS ... this one was a strong one to start off with. Which was cool because it was actually your first time with BTS and that's fitting for RM's intro at the beginning. But the more you dive into their music, the more you're realize why they're the top of the top of the top. Army loves watching people go through the BTS rabbit hole. Have fun! We'll help you along :)

Kpop in general has this 'sub-genre' of music that we could call 'flex' or diss tracks. That's also a common thing in rap. What you'll hopefully find out is that BTS are the most humble and kind-hearted human beings ever - especially for people in the music industry. Especially for people with their level of superstardom. They remain down to earth to this day. What I love about them is that they can express different sides of being human - the good and bad, the positive and not so positive - let it all out in a song, and then continue living and evolving as good people and artists beyond that. But their overall "message" is about self-love (at base, the thing that has caused all the grief and violence and sorrow in this world over the last several thousand years is lack of self-love or misguided sense of self -- so this theme is a hugely important one for us as a species). They also have a very wide range of songs and genres (something like 200 to 300-something songs... including solo projects, mixtapes, collabs, covers); most of their songs have meaningful, thoughtful lyrics and they write and produce a lot of their own material (which is not common for Kpop). And they've proven to be so lovable. If they were actually cocky in daily life (with nothing to back it up) or if they only did repetitive heartbreak songs (which they rarely do), they wouldn't have inspired such a devoted fan base, from every corner of the globe, ranging in age from 8 to 88. Hope you continue to explore more from them. 🙂

LOL love your reaction... although you seemed to pick up some of the lyrics but not all 🤣 Basically people gave them a hard time and told them they would never be big and this is one of their songs where they clap back at the people who looked down on them and basically say "look, while you were partying and clubbing we were working our @sses off and we think we're pretty good"😎 There are some Korean 'sayings' in some of the lyrics that have more meaning beyond what we might normally pick up on - hope you check out more. Thanks!

They write great FU songs. This is about how hard they worked while getting kicked in the teeth constantly. This was 2 years after their debut, but 4 years into their formation. They can really flex.

Lying wacks for example is BlackPink and their label 🎈 Just like the american industry, there's also a lot of unscrumptious activity in the korean industry. BTS came up as rebelious underdogs, and were bullied a lot by the industry and media. At the same time BTS kept working and ate everyone up with their talent and sincerity. Now they're pretty much their own entity as big as Samsung or Hyundai. It's quite an amusing history to dive into. It's nothing against Blackpink, they're lovely girls. Their music and marketing team is just not artistically driven, but rather after numbers and big bucks.

BTS is on a different level than Blackpink. They are the BIGGEST group in the world, not just K-Pop or boy band. They’ve won AMA awards, Billboard music awards, nominated twice for Grammys, spoke at the UN three times, met with President Biden, not to mention full sweep of Korean music awards.

Love you are checking BTS. They are on their own league but for me I don´t mind you comparing. That is a way to learn, to have a baseline. With BTS it is a huge endeavor cause they have tons of songs, tons of albums, all fantastic. They are trully something else and beyond. This is and old MV and song, still sooooo goood. Amazing you caught JHope´s happy energy. They are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. You are gonna have a hard time recognizim them cause they change their style always. There are some great guides to BTS. I love the one from Taylor. You are going to be amazed about how talented young people they are.

BTS is NOT the male counterpart of Black Pink. You don’t want to upset Army. Army is the fanbase of BTS which has 90M strong. BTS writes their own songs and all their songs have very deep meanings than what is just on the surface. There is actually an explanation to this and other of their videos. All Army asks is please be respectful and stop comparing BTS to other bands. You will understand later if you continue with this journey.

Thanks for listening to Dope : it's a response to the haters who said they would never make it, that they were useless and untalented, but who never worked as hard as BTS did and do. In their early years when they were preparing for a new release it was common for them to practice 16 to 18 hours a day and just fall asleep on the floor of the practice room. Nowadays they don't need to do that so much, but they are still recognised as being perhaps the hardest working group out there. Having said that, no, don't compare them to anyone else, especially not BP or any female Kpop bands - none of them move anything LIKE BTS. However, I do think it's ironic, but t=you almost can't talk about BTS or describe them, unless you actually KNOW them at least a little bit. The west has nothing even remotely like them. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, they are all involved in writing and producing their own music and their music addresses many subjects that other Kpop bands (and actually much of Korean media) won't touch, like mental health, impossible societal expectations, struggles young people face, and social inequalities. They started as trainees between 2010 and 2011, when their ages were from 13 (western age - Korean age differs and i would be calculated as 15 there) and 18 and debuted in 2013 - it was particularly tough because their small company had no influence over shows and they would often get cut. But they did enough. They are still constantly subjected to malicious acts - only today their company announced that they have identified someone systematically trying to flood social media with lies about one of the members. In Kpop, that kind of thing has ended careers. You will find an immense amount of content to explore and let you get to know who they are and what they care about. I hope you really enjoy it. And, yes, when they are speaking to the haters, they are very blunt. At some point you should watch one of the several Introduction to BTS videos - Taylor Nakamoto (an "ordinary" ARMY) has the most up to date one around just now.

They can all rap & sing but the official lines are 3 rappers & 4 vocalists. The write, produce, sing, dance, rap. They can all play instruments. Guitar, Piano, Drums, Saxophone, Trumpet. Jhope was in the race uniform. The rapper who lit your fire was SUGA. He also goes by AgustD. The man can spit bars! Check out Daechwita by AgustD official music video it SLAYS! Spoiler Alert!!! the opening shot is the King looking out into a courtyard filled with headless bodies with a box next to their bodies.
