How on earth did they 'teach' Jin to sing like that? Maybe he was born with it and never knew it before BTS. They each sounded amazing.

You're quite right. Another reactor (to Epiphany) said that Jin has a natural vocal timbre that comes from genetics - it is intrinsic in his vocal structure and he mentioned singers with distinctive voices like Adele as an example. He also said that singers who do not have this natural timbre can come close to it through training but will not quite achieve it. So I imagine the vocal coaches did not teach Jin so much as uncovered his talent, like a jeweller would polish facets in a diamond to bring out its best clarity and colour. And Jin thought at the start that he could not sing!

This is one of the 3 songs that JK and Jin join 1 of the rappers on. RM, Jin and JK do "Stay" Suga, JK and Jin do "So Far Away" All 3 of them are amazing. I honestly think Jin and JK singing together is a great duo, I would like to see more of these two together.

Jin as an opera singer? Yeah, he could do that with all that power, but even better-turn him loose as a serious rock vocalist. He could totally slay Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” He’d also knock it out of the park in a musical role, with all that power and full tone. Definitely the guy you want when the sound system goes out because he could still make the rafters ring with that lung system of his. And Hobi knocked it out of the park on this one too. He and Jin are my favorite BTS voices, because of the emotion and vocal color they bring to their performances. Not to overlook JK, the band’s resident vocal athlete always impresses. But Jan Jan Kook is just my favorite BTS unit!

some people could do SOME things given enough time, practice, expert teaching and guidance , but everyone can't do what these 2 did, it took special determination, humility and ambitious drive too, to become what multi talented men those 2 became through sheer will, strength, willingness to listen to advice and learn from others around them, and A LOT of HARD hard work. But many many people no doubt could, you're right in that we don't realize what all we could do, how much ability lies inside of us, until we have to do something, need to do it or we really, really WANT to accomplish something. Perserverance is probaly 45 to 50% of accomplishing anything it's the thing that so many, people, myself included, don't have the willingness to suffer, to continue to suffer for undetermined amounts of time, for POSSIBLE future gain.

Re your comment with regard to “2 of 3 taught to sing & rap prior to becoming part of the group”. You must remember J-Hope learned to rap after joining by listening to RM & Suga & developing his own style. They are all amazing & accomplished Artists at this point. So proud of each & every member.

This is one of my favorite BTS songs, and I feel like it’s underrated. Jamais Vu (zha-may voo) is the opposite of Deja Vu. Deja Vu is doing something for the first time and feeling like you have done it all before. Jamais Vu is when you have done something over and over again but it feels like the first time. In this song they are referring to pain that they have felt so many times that they should be used to it by now, but for some reason it still cuts like the first time you ever felt it. To me, that is what depression feels like, and I always kind of assumed that this is a song about suffering from depression. But I like the hopeful message at the end.

Whoever recruited Jin from the streets of Korea for his looks never knew then what kind of gem she/he had found. That’s serendipity. I know Jin trained hard to sing and dance as he does now but I also believe that his voice was already naturally beautiful even before he joined BTS. It was just never developed then. Also, I think Jamais Vu is one of BTS’ more amazing but underrated songs. 💜

That's an absolutely beautiful song!😍 I was in marching band in high school. Even though we practiced for HUNDREDS of hours, before a competition, this is EXACTLY how I would feel. "What if I mess up? What if I forget my positions/music/flag moves?" This is a real fear for a performer of any kind. Their live performance was perfectly staged and attired. The fact that they were constantly moving in circles up and down stairs reminds me of "racing thoughts in a blank mind." Like they're trying to remember lyrics and choreo while on stage during a concert and hoping to not mess up. This song has SUCH a deeper meaning than what people realize. That's why I LOVE BTS. They truly understand the human nature and it comes through in their lyrics. They make people understand that it's ok to be human and make mistakes. That they're human too. Not just a 7 person music making machine. That they make mistakes too. It's called LIFE. You can't go back and hit reload on life. You have to keep going forward. the song "Jamais Vu" which he called the saddest track on their album. Jamais Vu is the opposite of Déjà vu. If during Déjà vu we feel familiar or feel we have done, seen, feel something that just happened but rationally we have never experienced it, then Jamais Vu is the opposite of that. Jamais Vu comes from French which means "never seen" or never seen it. This phenomenon allows us to feel alien or unfamiliar with something that rationally we should be familiar with but as if we feel foreign to it.

Thank you for this reaction, John. I had been suggesting this song to a few reactors and finally! I am so emotionallly attached to this song because Jan Jan Kook are so fond of it. Jin selected this song as his sub-unit pick for their album Proof. I love how Jin and Jung Kook play off each other with J-hope's rap and that final tender counterpoint. I take so much pleasure in their live performances because they infuse so much emotional weight in their singing. Re your comments about Jin's voice - totally agree with everything you said about our sweet boy, and you're not alone in your comment that he could sing opera. Another reactor made the same comment about Jin when reacting to Epiphany.

I don't know if you noticed, but there were no backing vocals. The backing track had ad-libs only. There was one part with a planned breathing break for JK but otherwise, nothing. That's impressive and shows a level of confidence I love to see in them.

Loved watching that interview again...humble kings being real❤. Interesting point is that the live version here is from their online concert with no audience, and the energy is definitely different from a live show with ARMY present. They spoke about the difference it presented in some later interviews. It's one of my favorite b sides and I really hope to see it revived live and in person after 2025🔥🔥

This song is so amazing! They really capture the feeling of Jamais Vu - something familiar that suddenly feels different or unfamiliar. I think of how life is like that - we keep doing the same thing again and again and suddenly it feels wrong or uncomfortable and maybe that is a good thing and that's when you wish life was like a game where you could reload the game or get a healer in so you can redo that moment better or differently. Also, that stage concept is mindblowing - the way they just keep going in circles.

I just watched the subunit interview about this the other day 😁 I love that when they start singing it they just sound amazing. I'm kind of used to Jungkook sounding amazing without warning, and they do often treat him like a music vending machine 😂 but this time it wasn't just him and they sounded absolutely gorgeous. The stage design is reminiscent of artist M.C. Escher - best known for drawings that defy physics ( waterfall flowing upwards, stairs that go both up and down). The BTS stage has the same paradox look. Even their shirts seem backwards and forwards at the same time.

"Jamais vu" is the opposite of "deja vu." While deja vu is that feeling of familiarity in situations that have never occurred, jamais vu is that feeling of newness or unfamiliarity in situations that occur on a regular basis. Jin's example of them being on stage, which is a common occurance for them, but it feeling new each time; Hobie's example of his own lyrics, which are as familiar to him as his own face since he wrote them, but sometimes he forgets them as if they weren't his; Jungkook's more commonly relatable example of words we know, see, and use every day, but we hesitate, unsure if the spelling is right when we need to spell them as if we've never seen the words before.

If you don't know how to pronounce a phrase or words you can type it into Google and ask for the pronounciation and they will provide it. The s is silent. Phonetically. Jzah may voo. Jin's voice. Just think if you were the voice teacher who discovered that voice. And then when she was coaching him he finally came to the realization that he could sing. He told her over and over he couldn't sing. But then when he became convinced...he became her favorite student because he worked so hard at lessons. And practiced and practiced. He is still in contact with her. He invites her to concerts. Just think how proud she was when she heard "Epiphany". And the latest "The Astronaut". His voice is my favorite. I come from a musical theatre background and his ability to belt a song amazes me. The others don't have that skill. With his acting and singing skills he could take over Broadway in any musical!
