She's switching between English and Japanese. She's fluent in both and incorporates both into most of her songs

If you think *you* had no idea... now imagine you heard this song after she had spent the past hour introducing herself in a manner that is somewhat consistent with the meek-and-cute introduction of this song. This was her debut song with this avatar. She was hired by one of the big Japanese vtuber companies that was seeing some success in the West and wanted to open an English branch, and Calliope was the first of that group to go live. So, people really had no idea what to expect from her. And in her introductory stream she makes a point that she's trying to live up to what people might expect of a Japanese idol company branching out into English. Then she talks a bit about being yourself versus living up to others' expectations, and then goes "oh, and I've written a song for you guys...."

That is one of the most based and badass introductions ever.

She's switching between Japanese and English. Also, you pronounce her name as Cuh-lie-OP. Thanks for the reaction, could you please react her most recent album/EP "Jigoku 6"? To be honest her musical discography is pretty large, but personal bias Jigoku 6 is by far my favorite from Mori so far. You could react to all of her music in chronological order if you want. End of a Life is my favorite single by Mori Calliope.

Jigoku 6 was so good I bought the vinyl record. Left for Dead Lullaby is my favorite song ever

@@Shy_Guy_Desu yeah I also bought the vinyl just cause it's THAT good. I'd say my favorites were Left for Dead Lullaby as well because it's an emotional song on par with EOAL. Carousel because it's just a fun song with THE REOL. I also loop Future Island with my love for One Piece. God it's such a banger EP I can't really say I hated any of the tracks.

Most of us call her "Calli", "Mori", or sometimes "Dad" for ... reasons.

Her early stuff has charm to it but is a bit roguh around edges. Her later stuff is quite a lot better in terms of actual music quality but this song is hilariously creative and got charm to it. Her song "End of a Life" is a giant leap forward and worth a listen.

Welcome to the rabbit hole of Vtuber music. You will now discover an incredible world of music and comedy, from a goofy japanese dog girl who loves retro games to an indonesian brat who makes rain and has a killer singing voice. From a streaking star who has made it on The First Take to a death metal screaming latino raven. The pit is vast as it is deep and getting deeper by the day with every new release.

@@Shy_Guy_Desu not just Hololive, Indie's are incredibly talented, and you can't forget Vshojo members like Ironmouse, who can straight up sing opera at an incredible level

On the subject of pronouncing her name, "kuh lie yo pee" is the correct English way to pronounce it, but when her name was revealed in Japan, they had already decided to pronounce and spell it as "kah lee yoh peh", and by then it was too late. Calli was originally disappointed by this information, but over the years she's gotten so used to hearing the Japanese way that when someone actually pronounces it correctly she finds it strange. While this is vtuber trivia, this happened more recently with her newer peer, "Nerissa Ravencroft", though it's happened many times in the last year or so.
