Written by Wilbert Harrison, an R&B artist from the 50's and 60's. The original version of the song was called "Let's Stick Together". Bryan Ferry covered it in the 70's.

Have always loved this group. Canned Heat is a great blues & rock band that was formed in 1965. Their two biggest hits were "On The Road Again" in 1967 & "Going Up The Country" in 1968. Also love their song from 1970 "Let's Work Together".

With this, you've covered Canned Heat's hit singles. Unlike "On The Road Again" and "Going Up The Country" the lead vocalist is Bob (the Bear) Hite, a man of ample girth who would stalk the stage like Howlin' Wolf. Hite and Al (Blind Owl) Wilson had legendarily large record collections of blues and rhythm and blues records. To me the quintessential Canned Heat cut is "Fried Hockey Boogie" with all the members taking a turn in the spotlight.

Lots of people react to the British band 10 years after live at Woodstock I'm going home, and then maybe one of their huge hits in the early seventies, I'd love to change the world. But they were just so incredible. They have so much good stuff. For example, off of that same A Space in Time album that I'd love to change the world is from, check out once there was a time. It's fantastic storytelling and it leads off side B of the album. But basically everything on that album is incredible.

Jay/Amber, For Female Friday: Fanny, the first female rock band to release Albums(4) on a major label, Reprise (1970-73). ex. "Place in the Country" (1971) LIVE kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5y5iqGMdqqAf7c . They were the first female rock band to tour extensively as well. Their band name is to denote the female spirit. David Bowie said ““They were one of the finest f***ing rock bands of their time…They were extraordinary: They wrote everything, they played like motherf**kers, they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody’s ever mentioned them. They’re as important as anybody else who’s ever been, ever; it just wasn’t their time. Classic lineup June Millington-lead vocals/lead guitar; Jean Millington-lead vocals, bass; Nickey Barclay- lead vocals, keys;Alice de Buhr-drums, vocals. The one song you did by them was from their last album, which didn't include original guitarist/vocalist June Millington and and original drummer/vocals Alice de Buhr. It was not representative of their greatness.

To really hear Canned Heat get it on, check out their song FRIED HOCKEY BOOGIE. Canned Heat was started by two of the singers Bob the Bear Hite, who sings with the gravely voice and Al Wilson, the one who sings with the high voice like on GOIN' UP THE COUNTRY and ON THE ROAD AGAIN. Both these singsers were collectors of old blues music. Most of their songs are covers of very old blues songs. Check out the following two examples of the roots of Canned Heat: BULL DOZE BLUES by Henry Thomas recorded in 1928, and BOOGIE CHILLEN by John Lee Hooker in 1948.

This would be a deep dive for you, Canned Heat was heavily influenced by the legendary bluesman, John Lee Hooker. They were able to record a double album with him called Hooker'n Heat that's just incredible. I know I've suggested the song "Boogie Chillen No.2" from that several times (ok, more than several, lol) but it is a 9:00 minute song and I know you stay away from those long songs. So from the same album try "Let's Make It", you'll love it! Peace!

In 2007 a movie came out called Across the Universe. It was a musical with 100% Beatles songs. All the actors sing the Beatles songs. The movie starts with the doo-wop Beatles music that they started with then as it progresses it gets into the more psychedelic music. It sets place in the 60's with the start of rock, to race riots, the Vietnam war and the draft. I can't imagine you can react to a movie, but you should find it and watch it for your own pleasure.

And in fact, did you all see that movie and this song fit perfectly in those Philly open football tryouts!!! I really hope you all saw that classic movie!! It’s the first time I ever heard that tune but they play it on a Wichita Falls classic rock station down here and every time they do I think of that Eagles open football tryout. And I also don’t remember a thang of that open football tryout although I was raised on watching the Cowboys in those golden years of the early, mid, and late 70s with my dad.

It's a performance with both of those groups at the American Music Awards. Both groups were discovered by the same person but New edition was before New kids on the Block. In many people's opinion, if it wasn't for New Edition, there would have been no New Kids on the Block, Bell Biv DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Boyz II Men etc.

That Woodstock vibe infuses their music, great tune from those days. Memories of parties around the fire... Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

I saw Canned Heat in Concert in the late 70’s. There were a lot of bikers at that concert! It was a real time capsule of the late 60’s.

LOVE Canned Heat, Alan Wilson in particular! Y'all are on a roll with this and Little Feat. Hell yeah!

Great song, cool band! Next, check out Fried Hockey Boogie, released in 68, it’s a long one, slightly over 11 minutes. The main riff comes from a Johnny Lee Hooker tune called Boogie Chillun in 48. The same riff was borrowed by ZZ Top (La Grange) & Norman Greenbaum (Spirit In The Sky). ✌️

I'm going to echo what another commenter said. Please put the all girl rock band Fanny on your channel! Any of their Beat Club videos are fantastic!! Young & Dumb, Place In the Country, Ain't That Peculiar, Blind Alley. They were absolute trailblazers and they do not get their due!!

Yes! The Beat Club performances are the best. The studio recordings were toned down by the label. I will add Last Night I Had A Dream and Hey Bulldog to the list. They added a verse to Hey Bulldog with John Lennon's approval. There is a documentary film called Fanny- The Right To Rock that came out in 2022.
