There's a famous live version from Tanglewood. It's a special treat to see Terry Kath solo on guitar live, not to be missed. One of the greats. Was a great soulful singer too, on other Chicago songs (not this one). Chicago went into the commercial gutter sometime mid to late 70's.

I just disagree that Chicago evolving and loss of Teri ended Chicago to the gutter. Bands that can actually continue should get credit and evolving into new decades of Change and getting older remain relevant is still OF VALUE. 80s had change and not all bands could evolve. Some hate or dislike 80s Heart. Only love 70s Heart. Yet credit with ABLE to evolve is to be giving credit and adds to a Iconic status. So much change in past decades to hair styles to dress we lived thru .... are part of our lives too and the next generation.... we too need to appreciate things vs only like our narrow bubble of our youth.

@@jameskinchen2148 Live seeing a Iconic group LIVE that is also with perfection should not be lessened. Only sad thing is it is in Low-Def on youtube. Back in the 70's there was a little club in Richmond Va where my brother would go to party after work. One night we walked in just as the DJ was saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, Chicago." They were using the club to rehearse their Concert in the City the next day. They did their entire Concert, including this song. What an incredible experience that was. There were maybe 100 people, total, in the club.

If you stick to Chicago's Terry Kath era, 1967-1978, you'll be amazed at their fusion of jazz, rock, blues, funk, and R&B across their catalog. From their debut album "The Chicago Transit Authority" in 1969, to "Chicago XI" released in 1977, they were a kick-ass band. After guitarist Terry Kath's accidental death on January 23, 1978, a week before what would have been his 32nd birthday, they were never the same. Their later music went disco then sappy pop ballads when bass player Peter Cetera and new manager David Foster took them down the soft commercial path. Go to their 1969 debut double-LP as The Chicago Transit Authority and play the opening track "Introduction", with Terry Kath on lead vocals. Dubbed "the white Ray Charles" for his soulful baritone voice. Move on to "Poem 58" which is nine minutes of PURE FUNK with Kath on guitar, Danny Seraphine on drums, and Peter Cetera on bass. "Poem 58" will blow your mind! The closing track, "Liberation", is a FOURTEEN MINUTE instrumental jam! The 1970 Tanglewood live performance of "25 Or 6 To 4" will show you Terry's guitar prowess that will leave you speechless!

If you like the bluesy side of rock, one of my favorite bands ever was the British blues rock band Ten Years After from the 60s and early 70s, brazenly introduced to the world through their iconic performance at night at Woodstock doing I'm coming home. But they have a rich catalog and so many great songs. So many great songs. If you haven't heard it, you should probably check out their biggest radio hit, from their incredible album A Space in Time, and the song is called I'd Love to Change the World. Legendary. A war protest song amongst other things. Mostly they just love to set a mood and then freaking Rock out. Something I bet you would love immediately would be from that same A Space in Time album, Once There Was A Time. Starts off like a really intimate back porch storytelling thing, and you quickly see that it is quite humorous and exaggerated and it's just a vehicle to set this incredible slow tone, and then just keep picking it up and picking it up, until it just goes unbridled, but in the middle is just a really incredible blend of rock and blues in this liquid solo, Alvin Lee is just so good at that stuff, and everyone in that band had extreme chops. And the band d itself had Jazz influences from early on.

A bit of advice. They are great right up until about 1977-ish. Anything up until then is solid, and the older stuff is more jazzy and awesome (like this song) than the later stuff. Her version of "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" from the 1956 Alfred Hitchcock film, The Man Who Knew Too Much, topped the charts in the US and UK and won an Oscar for Best Original Song. You might better know that tune as a football chant -- "Que sera sera,\ Whatever will be will be, \ We're going to Wembley, \ Que sera sera". "Autumn Leaves", the song from her you've got queued up, is an old standard. I've not heard her version, but I really dig Nat King Cole's version of the song.
