This is the greatest ballad ever recorded in Country/Gospel history. And sung by a man that you would never expect this soulful voice to come from. The song will grow on you, believe me. The more you listen to it, and the circumstances surrounding the playing of the song will forever be in your heart every time you hear this amazing song. Great selection, gentlemen.

This is more Gospel, Bluesy, Rhythm and Blues than anything remotely resembling Country. The trajectories were/are as parallel as they were segregated. "Country" music is associated with "white" Southerners whereas this is clearly, historically not branches off the same cultural tree. By Southern, in this instance, it was Black Southern...which was always distinct from what was/is popularly known as "Country".
@rickiovine2170
@rickiovine2170 2 жыл бұрын
@@aceboogie6689 : It may be all of those things but it cannot be removed from Country as it’s heart and soul. Chris Stapleton writes songs that display the many layers of this great form of music. You have a much too narrow view of Country, If it makes you feel better we can call “Tennessee Whiskey” Country Rhythm and Blues. But, to say that it isn’t “anything remotely resembling Country” shows a strong bias against Country music. (Can you give me an example of “Black Southern” so that I can see what you mean?) I am sure that the 95% of Chris’ fans that are into Country music will disagree with your awkward take. Note: Chris has received 10 Academy of Country Music Awards; 14 Country Association awards, and was named the Artist-Songwriter of the decade by the Academy of Country Music. In 2017 he won the Grammy for the Best Country Album.

Tennessee Whiskey " is a country song written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. It was originally recorded by American country music artist and Outlaw Country King David Allan Coe, who took it to #77 on the charts in 1981. Country King "George Jones" recoorded this song in 1983, taking it to #2 on Country billboard charts. Chris is fantastic in his rendition. Chris was certified Diamond by the RIAA. This song is very personal. How can one be closer than this to another. Truly, this man is in over his head in love. She is all he needs . The passion runs as deep as the Mississippi. Beautiful job, Chris. To Ashton RIP Oct. 2020 at 37 yrs old, this is his song to his love of his life since high school and mother of his baby girl. His night of passing , hit by a car while on his bike, his voice told his love in her car driving home at the same moments of his passing, "Don't take this road home, Sunny. You don't need to see this. I love you." This song played over and over in her car. She listened to his request in tears. She knew something went wrong. and took a side route. He died on that Georgia hwy. He was a guitarist/ musician and singer. This was their song. His love for her is described in perfection in this song, Tennessee Whiskey. Music is in us. Songs hold meaning, precious and beautiful . My eyes tear to this song. I hold this song double close. LYRICS TENNESSEE WHISKEY Used to spend my nights out in a bar room Liquor was the only love I've known But you rescued me from reachin' for the bottom And brought me back from being too far gone You're as smooth As Tennessee whiskey You're as sweet As strawberry wine You're as warm As a glass of brandy And honey, I stay stoned on your love All the time I've looked for love in all the same old places Found the bottom of the bottles always dry But when you poured out your heart, I didn't waste it 'Cause there's nothing like your love to get me high You're as smooth As Tennessee whiskey You're as sweet As strawberry wine You're as warm As a glass of brandy And honey, I stay stoned on your love All the time You're as smooth As Tennessee whiskey You're as sweet As strawberry wine You're as warm As a glass of brandy Honey, I stay stoned on your love All the time You're as smooth As Tennessee whiskey Tennessee Whiskey Tennessee Whiskey You're as smooth As Tennessee Whiskey Tennessee whiskey Tennessee whiskey

M god y’all are adorable! Haha loved this. Chris was famous around Nashville years before he got a record deal and blew up on the world stage. That’s part of why people in the industry were so excited when he started getting more recognition, because they loved him as an artist and had been following him for a long time.
