Ok watching then I’ll explain this. Edit: Ok so before Cole even wrote CoalShooter he sat down with his grandfather (my uncle on my dads side) and just asked him to explain/tell him how it was like growing up back in his day. My uncle is younger than my dad so I think he did lie about his age but not sure. But after Cole and him talked, that’s when he wrote this song.

Cole is my cousin on my dad’s side of the family. Yes it’s about my dad’s brother Charles (we have a nickname he’s had since he was a kid) when him (also my dad did and his other brothers I think too. There’s seven siblings) who worked in the mines with my grandfather. My dad is one of the older brothers and I think my dad is a few years younger than Charles (Cole’s grandfather which is his mom’s dad). But yeah it’s written about Cole mining in general but he does mention his grandfather.
