Bump another point on to the guitar solo. Slash breaks a string with about 3mins still to go, and plays without his high e from then on in. You can just about see the string flailing about through the outro Pretty sure Axl is also wearing a moon boot as he had a broken foot around this time. So bonus points for him too

The lyrics are intriguing. The first half of the song is about being comfortable with the peace that death provides. But also expressing some resentment towards those that have let him down. The final part of the song is about him realizing he still needed to accomplish some things on earth and that he’s the only one that can pull himself out of this. “No you don’t need a doctor no one else can heal your soul” and “got your mind in submission got your life on the line but nobody pulled the trigger they just stepped aside” are a couple of my favorite lyrics. Great song I think everyone has been to that dark point in their mind, this one tends to give hope despite the story it tells.

Absolutely THE BEST live performance of this song. And one of their most underrated ones... those bass riffs man. When I saw them live omg this had the whole stadium shaking. Definitely one of my top 3 GNR songs, behind November Rain. And Slash.... just no words needed. He's on a whole different level than anyone else.
@bowlingaly50594 жыл бұрын
Glad you checked this song out!! Slash wrote the song about delirium from heroin. Axl wrote the lyrics after he od'd. Please listen to the album version to clearly hear the lyrics...and background voices and sounds...and then listen again following the lyrics to fully understand this song. :) There's 2 voices going on in this song. You clearly hear the battle between wanting to be in the dream world state from the drugs and hide from his problems, to pulling himself together and mentoring himself to get his life back on track. Sort of the tiny little cartoon devil on your shoulder telling you in your ear that you kinda like it in a coma vs. the tiny cartoon angel telling you that if you keep it up... got a one way ticket, on your last chance ride...got a one way ticket to your suicide.

This song is about an attempted suicide. They did an amazing job with this song live and it's not easy. There are some production aspects of the studio version difficult to duplicate. Good idea to go listen to the studio cut. It is an epic roller coaster ride. You mentioned at the end of one reaction that every time you listen to GNR it takes you on a journey and I immediately thought..man he needs to listen to Coma. Loved your face at the start of that solo. Definitely an 11. Please Check out Garden of Eden and The Garden also. Two different songs and they both have..."videos." 😂

Gonna respectfully disagree. When I heard Coma (and Estranged) on the album, although I thought they were Ok, it wasn't until I saw them live (with all the imperfections ) that they really hit me in the soul. I think they were over produced on the album. Produced so perfectly that all the pure emotion and energy were gone. When All screams "Pleeeeeeeeaaaaasssseeee Understand meeeee" on the live version you know its coming from a deep dark personal place in his soul.

Coma is a badass song. I’d check out the studio version with lyrics. One thing about Guns N Roses is that they don’t have your typical “Rock Star” lyrics. Many of their songs have a deep meaning. Welcome to the Jungle is about Axl coming from Indiana to experiencing the dark underbelly of LA. Paradise City is a very political song. Civil War has some of the best lyrics I’ve ever heard in a song that still ring true to this day. Coma is one of those songs as well. Deeper meaning that you will have to read the lyrics to understand. P.S Axl started wearing those type of shirts once GNR was touring all over the world Bc Axl is known for running marathons at every show. Why sometimes he may sound out of breath. He doesn’t just stand around and sing he literally runs a marathon every concert. So I’m assuming those shorts allow him to live freely all over the stage.

@rylancollado64554 жыл бұрын
The song is about when axel overdosed and he said that he didn’t want to come back to this world because at that time he was very stressed out with the band and everything. So technically it’s a true story but in the live version you don’t get the sound effects of the doctors bringing him back or the sound of his girlfriend yelling at him which played a big factor in his stress.

Yes! You did it and reacted to my favorite GnR song! Thanks! Do yourself a favor and listen to the studio version in private. I've been 15 years when the album came out and I needed a dictionary to understand the lyrics (I'm German). My English grades at school improved a lot after I got interested in Rock music, the lyrics and interviews with Slash and other favorites of mine. Sometimes my teacher were surprised, why I knew certain slang words😅

I enjoyed this reaction, but the best thing about this song, imo, is the lyrics. I suggest pulling up the lyrics on all your reactions. Reactions to people discovering news songs is so much fun to watch, but people so often miss the full vision of the song by missing or misunderstanding the lyrics.
