@em101112 That would be the treasonous, un-American snowflakes who melt from the truth. That Trump is a dirty, stupid traitor. You know, the fascist pigs operating on the dishonest politics of outrage, slandering others who are possibly doing something responsible as turning away from animal flesh.

Prior to CCR, John Fogerty gotten drafted for Vietnam War in 1966. Immediately, he signed up for the Army. John went in as a Reservist supply clerk. John completed his service in 1968. I believed during his time in the Army, John wrote this song about the guys who served with him. While they served, rich and wealthy families pay to keep their kids out of the war.
@gushers7538
@gushers7538 2 жыл бұрын
The song is about the draft of the Vietnam war that rich kids would get a less change of getting drafted to go fight and decide if they're going to war or not and how poor kids would often go and get drafted and fight.

I am a baby boomer. Some of the songs from the 60s and 70s are songs against the war in Vietnam. This is one of them. Like so many of the songs back then the lyrics in this song are more important than the music. A fortunate son is one who avoided getting drafted, especially if he was born into wealth. KZbin has the lyrics on video. Just a suggestion 😌

Great band. They sang the songbook of the whole 1960's to a generation of hippies who are still around today and still love their iconic music. John Fogerty is the lead singer and he also wrote 'Rockin' All Over The World' and did an amazing cover of 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' amongst many other '60's classics.

Vietnam's protests songs...63 to 73 Vietnam War was a big divide in Country. Draft was used for first time since WW2...Hippie movement full force. You can hear it in the music, I was in High School so many friends where drafted, I can remember when the lottery numbers were announced every few months, praying my Brothers number didn't come up...I spent many hours Protesting Vietnam War. Women's Rights, Civil Rights. Then you had the Assasination of John F Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and Martin Luther King during these years....again you can hear it in the music, Hippies was counterculture, fighting back against establishment, Equality, for all. I was proud to be part of changes... I keep waiting for the next Generation to step up, Hippies were all about Love Peace, Change. At least we left the World with a soundtrack of our generation...Great music comes from pain, loss, hope, love, Enjoy your Journey Music is Educational, shows history, 🤗

Good one guys, great band. Definitely a Vietnam War protest song. That war was a joke, if your parents could afford to send you to college you were exempt from the draft. If your daddy was rich or a politician you were safe. Let me tell you brother, if that was you or me our asses would have been over there fighting. That was the most unnecessary war ever fought by this nation. Go to the Vietnam War Memorial in DC and when you see almost 58,000 names inscribed there it will bring a tear too your eyes. What a waste of young American lives. Check out "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" by this band, probably my favorite by them. I haven't got around to your John Lennon "Imagine" but will soon. Peace, young ones ☮️✌️💕

This is a anti-war song and it was released in October 1969. Context is everything. In 1969 226 American soldiers were killed per week. In '68 it was 325 per week. For some reason anti war tunes were popular in those days. /S

This is a Vietnam War era song. I remember it when it came out. "Fortunate Sons" were sons of Senators, Congressmen and the rich who got out of being drafted during the War by way of their Daddy's name. It was a song in protest of that. Vietnam was a very controversial war and probably the first time that citizens ever protested a war.
