DakhaBrakha from Ukraine. The language in which they sing is Ukrainian. The songs are a modern adaptation of old Ukrainian songs, including pre-Christian, pagan ones.

@@videoshal So what? Do these few lines in one song change anything dramatically? Will you call the group russian now? They also sing in English in this song. Do you think this is an English band?

@@9002Amelie, haven't I claimed they are a Russian band? :) They are Ukrainians. But in this particular song they sing in Russian too.

@@videoshal What's the difference? Who is interested in this? To you? Well, if it's a matter of principle, then it is in this song that Elena and Irina sing on surzhik. Marko uses English and Nina sings in Ukrainian.

❤ Dakha Brakha. If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO! I discovered them at a music festival and was just blown away by their range and talent and heart and spirit. They use Ukranian folk music as a base, but speak so many other musical languages so fluently and relatably, And while they're pulling off all these complex and subtle arrangements, and making musical magic, they act like they're just having fun! Later, I saw them at a smaller theater type venue, like the kind of place where people mainly appreciate the music from their seats, and I didn't expect the same kind of enthusiasm from this crowd that I experienced at the festival, but I was mistaken. By the end of the show almost everyone was out of their seats, there were 80 year olds dancing next to 8 year olds and everyone in between-never seen anything quite like that!

Dakhabrakha are amazing! Check out their other songs (Vesna, Karpatsky Rap, Specially For You, Divka Marusechka). Saw them live at a festival and was so blown away by the harmonics... the voices... the dresses...everything... that I bought tickets for 2 concerts a week apart from each other and bought every album available at the end of the concert. Had the privilege of sitting at the front row during the 2nd concert and couldn't help to shed a happy tear during their performance of Baby, which was their farewell song. I waited at the end of the 2e concert, hoping to have a picture taken or an autograph but they had gone back to their hotel and I had a train to catch back home. Lena is the one with the clear leading voice playing the percussions, Irina is the once with the deep soothing voice playing the piano (and a bunch of other instruments!) and Nina is the once with the amazing vibrato voice playing the cello. The 3 are incredible beautiful and always have a smile on their face. They're coming back to France next week for more concerts, but I won't be able to see them. Maybe next time :)

The rhythms and counter rhythms as well as Marko using Brian Wilson tainted range is lovely..... The build up to the harmony as the duo of Lena and Iryna harmonizing about their vision of some guy they assume they could love. Then when you assume the whole event is perfect, Nina lifts the top of your noggin off with her imploring the Nightengale about her sad plight..... Iryna embellishing the and of Marko's Baby cries with the piano riff seems perfect... This version of the song is one of the finest recordings of their work....

@@user-qr6td3ub2q I'm not sure why they did a Russian song, considering the war and all. But it's not purely in Russian anyway. Nina clearly sings in Ukrainian. Maybe there's a point behind it, bringing two cultures together and "showing love" to each other. Anyway after multiple interviews with Marko and the girls that I watched I can't suspect them being pro-Russian. There's probably some concept behind this song which I can't quite apprehend
