You're getting into my era with this. Some other great 3 Dog night songs (3 lead singers) Liar, a remake of Otis's Try a little tenderness, Out in the country, are some very good care that don't get heard as much. I'm also a huge Grand Funk fan, anything from the Closer to home album or E Pkuribus Funk which is stamped on the back of US coins, the album was packaged in a silver coin pressed cover is one of their best rockers. Love your channel & when I'm done spending too much money on getting healthy again. I'll be buying you a few coffees & blow your mind!

This band right here was gold for many of writers. How couldn't they be with those three up front. I still say they're the greatest cover band to ever exist. Bet they had writer's looking at the originals saying, 'That's what I was talking about.' These guys were amazing, didn't always get along I've heard, but when they were on, they were on it. I enjoy watching people actually see what they are doing live. Studio stuff is better after a witness.

We heard all kinds of music, every day, on the same radio station, in each small town. I think that's what made the difference back then. Years and years of that. What do you think? It certainly didn't prevent or erase the racism and sexism of my youth--I'm 69 years old, but when it came to music I think people of all ages, in general, were used to listening to a wider variety of music and at least in music we were more open to each other in a lot of ways. I don't know exactly when things became so divided musically, but they did.

I grew up listening to TDN, but I had never heard this live version of "Eli's Coming", so thank you for presenting that. I agree with you that the introduction was outstanding. All three singers have real vocal chops. You don't sustain a note like the second guy did without having had some serious vocal training. You should also look up Laura Nyro, the song's composer, whose work has served as a major influence on many other great songwriters.

I grew up in that era, in fact I was 23 in 1975. In that time frame we didn’t get to see our favorite groups perform unless we had the money for tickets to a concert that might be in town. We got to see rare performances on tv which were few and far between and very controlled. I would have loved the internet back then. I didn’t realize how super talented 3 Dog Night was until I saw this live performance. Live performances definitely showcased how truly talented they were. I am obsessed with live performances now, because I rarely got to see them during that time.

Back in the early 1970s I had a press pass to their concert (I was working at an underground newspaper). They do a lively, wonderful, passionate concert. I was up on my feet with everyone else in the audience, dancing, jumping up and down, singing along to their song "Celebrate". The song ends, we all sit back in our seats... ...except I hopped back into mine and instead of the seat cushion, my rear end hit the armrest. Broke my coccyx. Couldn't sit for a week. It eventually healed, but in an 'L'-shape. I will always remember attending their concert.

Pay homage to the Woman who wrote this, Laura Nyro. Please listen to her. She was a super successful songwriter in the 1960s, writing many popular hits like Stoned Soul Picnic, Wedding Bell Blues, And When I Die, Save The Country and this one. She performed in the '60s but didn't like the fame; she was a millionaire at 21 from songwriting and continued to write. Unfortunately, Laura died much too young from breast cancer like her mother; she has an amazing voice, too; check her out. You will be amazed. Eli and the 13th Confession is one of her masterpieces.I named my firstborn child Elijah because of this song.

I worked for a big tech company back in the 90's and for a great product release (a computer motherboard) that our 100+ people group knocked out of the park, the company put on a big dinner & dance to thank us. We all expected chicken or ribs for dinner and a DJ for the dance, but instead it was a sit down multi-course meal and surprised us with several hours of Three Dog Night live right beside the dance floor. My wife and I had one of the best times of our life! 'Listen to the Music', 'Mama Told Me not to Come', 'An Old Fashion Love Song', 'Never Been to Spain', 'Joy to the World', 'Try a Little Tenderness' and 'Black and White' are some of their best that we all got up and danced to on that very crowded dance floor. 😁🥰
