There is a rehearsal video of this song, with pics of Priscilla in background. This song was for Priscilla. She had forgiven him, but she couldn’t go back to the cheating, etc. Your wife is the correct one. It was too late!😊

Elvis never got over his wife Priscilla leaving him in 1972 he went down so fast they both loved each other but he never was home always on tour. He started singing all these type songs. It nearly killed him when she took off with his karate instructor

A Lot Of People Thought That Willie Nelson Wrote This Song. It Was Mark James And Two Other Guys. Mark Wrote Suspicious Minds. Elvis Recorded The Song In 1972. Willie Recorded It In 1982. Actually It was Wayne Carson that wrote the song, and then Mark James and Johnny Christopher helped him write the bridge only. Wayne Wrote 95% of the song. He basically had the whole thing done but he did not have a bridge in the middle, And the other two guys happened to be there at the studio, and they worked on the bridge together.

Wayne Carson came up with the idea of this song as he was on a trip that got extended and his wife wasn't happy. I believe Elvis was the third to record this song and he made it a hit selling over 1 million units. It wasn't written about Priscilla but Elvis recorded it a couple of weeks after the separated.

Wayne was a close friend of my father’s and lived in our neighborhood when I was growing up. Spent a great deal of time at his house, and he at ours. He told me so many stories, but I don’t think he ever told me the origin story of this song. So you may very well be correct. He did say Elvis‘s rendition was his favorite though. Like most musicians of Wayne’s generation, Elvis was a hero to him. I still remember being about 13 years old when we first moved to the neighborhood, and he came over was playing songs on the acoustic with my dad. When he started playing some of his hits we were just in awe. He was a great man and a hell of a writer of course.

She was cheating on him with a number of men. He cheated on her too. So sad. They were a beautiful, loving couple, and when Lisa Marie was born, they were incredibly more in love. They stayed friends after divorcing though and they both still loved each other. You two are just adorable, Love your reactions.
