For sure brother! Exact same here! I'm a vet that struggled with addiction for almost 3 years almost last my kids and shit too, sober for 8 and a half years now! It's crazy how little attention struggling vets that fought for the freedom and rights of our people and country get, our own government forgets us when we are no longer capable of serving them....it's sad man, I donate to a few veteran charities and I will continue to do so until I die!!! Any vets struggling that read this please reach out for help..... you'd be surprised just how many people are watching and truly do care!!!! Much love brother!!!! Semper-fi

There are 2 parts to this song that I feel like a lot of people miss of their first listen. First, is the God/Devil gender thing. Listening to.... I hear God as the spouse you come home to. They don't recognize you because war has changed you so much. Devil is himself. He feels evil and like he is undeserving of of help or compassion. Second, is heaven and hell. Wrong side of heaven... heaven is home. He isn't at home. He left "heaven" to defend it, so he doesn't get to experience it. Righteous side of hell.... hell is war. He's gone to war for what he sees as a righteous cause. He is defending his heaven. To keep it pure innocent and untainted.

I watched vet reactions and many have said that it's very common that God would be referred to as female. The motherly relation, feminine loving touch etc. "Wrong side of heaven and the righteous side of hell" Moral issues that soldiers face of they are there to protect their homeland, an honorable act, only they're killing people to do that. Which is a sin. That's where "right or wrong, I can hardly tell" comes in. Going to the lengths of taking lives to defend. Good, going to do whatever it takes. Then, willing to kill to get what you want isn't good. Are you right, or are you wrong?
@Just_Me_Again72

@@toxikelement1372 Thank you. I just came on to say that. As a Marine Corps wife (& daughter & mother in law) my husband did 4 deployments in Iraq & Afghanistan. When they are in the shit on the front lines, they do (in many cases) refer to God as "She". It's simply comforting. It's crazy there's so much over analyzing that in the reactions. I think the power in this song IS in its simplicity. It gets the point across amazingly this way. If we "judged" countries as we claim to, by how they treat their elderly, their children & their veterans, I think that would be one harsh look in the mirror. It's disgraceful.

Again, thank you for your heartfelt reaction to such an important song. "You saved my life, Brother" will always get me. That's real. Greg, I would like to start off by saying "THANK YOU"! I left the military in 2001. While i was in, i have seen my buddies shot and one decapitated. Once I was out i spent 3 years on the street. No one was willing to help at all. The VA system is a freaking joke! You are nothing more than a number, and herded like cattle to the slaughter. There ended up being a guy whom i did not know at the time, that reached out to me. After a few years, i picked myself back up. I ran into an old friend of mine in about 2008. He and i served together also went to high school together. He had seen some action as well. Went to prison for a while, and is doing better now. 3 of my brothers and sisters could not deal with their situation, nor could they get any help (one was still active duty). They killed themselves. Leaving behind their children and spouses. The military is not for everyone, and everyone's situations are different. however, it can be very rough to deal with. That song drives nails through my heart, as it has deep meanings to me. Thank you again for reviewing this song.

My father served in the AF during Vietnam. He was on the flight line and didn't see action, but he had to do things like repair a helicopter that was brought in with casualties still inside the helicopter. He also had a friend become homeless and die on the streets. I wish we could support him more, but he has never been able to say more to us than telling my mother about that helicopter.

Thank you for your honest and not fake review to an amazing song and video. What's worse than finding out one of your squad or platoon mates has fallen on hard times and you need to help them is to find out you have to wonder how why you didn't see the issues they had and it's too late to help them, because they didn't get the help they needed and did something drastic. Vets will go to the doc about a bad back or a bum knee but sadly won't talk about the mental side and what's worse is when they do, they are either ostracized or blow off as faking if you can believe that. Again, thank you for this honest reaction.

You hit the nail on the head. Veterans get so little support from the government when they get back. In addition to a home, they don't get the mental health support to deal with the PTSD and how to transition from active war one day back to family life the next. Some have a strong family or friends who can help them through, but some don't. Appreciate this reaction.

Brings tears every time cause my family is pretty military. A grandpa in ww2, an aunt in desert storm, my father in viet nam, my older bro in the navy stationed in japan helping keep the peace against pirate in the sea of china. It's not just the VA and government ignoring vets. It's the VA being underemployed and under funded. Vet's being too prideful to go to the VA for help, the VA having months or years long wait list for certain things. The VA does the best they can, but more vets than should fall through the cracks due to various reasons. Homeless vets, alcoholic vets, and veteran suicide are swept under the rug as one of the 3 big shames the government hides and the larger populace don't really know about. Homeless vets, homeless teens, and orphan children needing adoption. Veterans get help, but not all. It's a shame, a complete shame. It's worse that sports players get paid WAY MORE than they do, too! Military should get paid out the ass, not entertainers, not athletes, not politicians. I don't include the president in 'politician' cause they're a puppet of congress, meant to take hits. Even they should get paid more than athletes, but they only make like $60k a year. You can see the amount of stress they go through with just one term. Look at Obama, went in with perfect young-man hair, after his first 4 years, half of it was grey af. But military should get paid among the most. They put their lives on the line and don't even know if they'll come back alive once they're stationed somewhere. They deserve to be treated and paid SO well. They should be the ones going around with lambo's, diamonds and chains, and big-ass houses. Not musicians, not football stars, not Congress.

I appreciate your reaction and support. My uncle served in Vietnam. Naturally, he doesn't ever talk about what he went through, but I've seen the deep scars on he back, shoulders, and chest. His way of coping has been to develope a very messed up sense of humor and not everyone in the family appreciates it. I'm one of the few in the famoly that has a similar sense of humor to him, so I always laugh at his jokes and pranks. I do remember when he and my aunt were moving, I helped clean out his private office and found a plaque that was awarded to him for disobeying direct orders from his commanding officer. He ran, under fire, from his trench to the munitions trench to help them with a jammed gun. And he was rewarded for it. As I mentioned, he doesn't ever talk about it, but I've seen his scars. I kid you not, the scar on his chest looks like a pouncing lion. I see that scar as truth of his bravery and I show him nothing but love and respect each and every time I see him.

We enlist for more reason than can be listed. We sacrifice for love. We suffer for our sacrifice and are looked at like monsters when we open up about what we have done or seen. Some embrace the monster and learn to live with him. Some become the monster and get lost in the system. Some give in to the monster and are lost. Thank you for your reaction to this. It means more than you know to see someone care.

I just finished 21 years active army combat medic, you notice I say brother on a lot of your videos, I say it because I feel I’m a pretty good judge of character and I know you are a good man. People talk shit about how I call some people brother, it’s deeper than just a slang word for many of us, has nothing to do with color, race or so on, it’s about what I believe is in the persons heart, I don’t use loosely and I know what I have done so I don’t give 2 shits what people think of how I choose to speak. This song makes me so sad for the fact that it just shows what our vets go through when they return. I try my best to thank every veteran for their service because we wouldn't have the freedoms we do if it weren't for them. There definitely needs to be more done for them when they return, especially those who experienced combat. Thank you my friend. You always have kind words for all people. One big issue is that those of us that served or are serving now signed a contract with the government and wrote them a blank check for our lives. But they didn't sign a contract with us and generally won't write us a check. It's disheartening to see all the wasted money going to insane things that could be helping vets in ne3d.

I'm right there with you brother, I enlisted in the Corps in 94 married my highschool sweetheart and had two boys by 2000, everything was going great she knew what my career plans were and said she supported me. Then 9/11 happened at the time I was an 0321 with 3-6 MAGTF and deployed to the stan. walked through hell that first one, came home and got served divorce papers first day home, she took the kids and moved back to where we came from. The fucked up thing was by that time I had put in 8 years and was getting out she knew this yet just bounced, so I signed on the line mailed the papers back and reuped in the same fucking day. Next time I got states side her dad and mine brought my boys to see me if it wasn't for him I would have had no access to my sons at all , Being a Vietnam army vet he couldn't believe she would do what she did or deny me the right to see my boys, I hated her for that, first time I got to hold my sons they were 3 and 5 years old man. I ended up putting in a little over sixteen years my boys are what kept me grounded and as close to sane as one can hope to be after all that I lived through. I have my demons and darkness that I have to deal with like everyone who deployed I could have easily ended up on the wrong path brother plenty of times I almost did, shit rides me real hard sometimes but I look at my boys and know I can't let that shit win. Not after everything they have done for me just by loving me. Stay strong brother, we may wear a different uniform and not have the same blood but we are brothers all the same, we are here for you got your six brother Semper Fi.

One of the biggest things about the military: we are one color, the color of our uniform. Be it green, blue, camo, doesn't matter, we're all brothers/sisters, and we depend on each other to have our backs. IGY6. After being discharged I lived out of my car for 4 years. No shelter to call home. Working on my degree hoping it would land me a job (which it didn't, it made me even MORE overqualified for any job I applied to in my field of study/knowledge). Depending on friends for a shower here and there. I had friends to help. Not all of us do. Many of us wind up not just homeless, but feeling friendless as well. Especially those that get stricken with PTSD (like the guy screaming in the street in the video). This condition alienates most people around the veteran - and those that the condition doesn't drive away, get pushed away by the veteran because he/she feels lesser than them, as if they are imposing or as if they are being "pittied". This triggers their PTSD often, as well. I remember trying to give a $20 to a veteran on the side of the road one day, and he cursed me out, yelled at me that I didn't understand his pain driving around in my pretty SUV, crumpled up the bill and threw it back at me. He of course didn't understand that that was 1 of my last 2 $20 for the month, and that I FULLY understood what he was going thru, and that it had taken over a decade for me to be able to trade in my broken-down 2004 cavalier for a used SUV that I could barely afford the insurance for (was in fact at that time being paid for by my father-in-law) but needed b/c I had a family to care for. You have to be so careful when trying to help veterans, you don't know what might trigger them.

A lot of people go through a lot of horrible things in life. Keep that in mind always. I treat everyone with respect unless I'm treated otherwise. You never know someone's struggle.
So Cute 🥰 who is better?
