the backstory of the song: Axl Rose wrote this in 1985 when G N' R were living in Los Angeles and playing gigs on the Sunset Strip. The song is about how they were so reckless, crazy and poor that the only alcohol they could afford was the Nightrain.

Guns N Roses live at the ritz 1988 has some good performances of Appetite songs. A bit sloppy considering they had sound issues at that show but they bring the energy.

Nightrain= one of the only cheap wine-brands they could afford. They were so broke when they wrote this, that they slept with/at female fan's places in order to be able to eat there.😊 I believe that there enormus "hunger" /appetite for success, coming from the streets as underdogs made this the super-album it became. And you can hear that in the songs. The first strange thing I found in 87 when I got the album, was that I har one song as a favourite for two weeks, then another. So ut went on week after week, month after month. It went so far that I could sing along with Slash's solos. And still today, I can't get tired of the songs. I even got the vinyl with the original cover.😊

Sorry but youre on crack…half the album is pretty good the rest is filler (weak)…you cant compare this album to classics like OM, back for the attack, those are a few examples but there was tons of better bands and albums at the time..for ex dirty looks was 10 times better of a sleaze/glam band than gnr…with all that being said i still say nightrain is by far the best song on appetite and easily a top 10 favorite of the 80s rock/metal scene but lets not say the album is a classic from top to bottom

You should listen to a live version of this song since the studio version fades out rather than finishes. Chicago '92 is a good one. Also, you still have Rocket Queen from the album. Please react to the Tokyo '92 live version. Such an amazing live performance. Blows the studio version away (although do feel free to listen to the studio version- its great in its own right).

Hey man I just found your channel, I'm enjoying your reactions so far, I'm subscribing right now. When you're done with the Use Your Illusion stuff you should react to Chinese Democracy, Guns N' Roses' infamous album from 2008, I haven't seen anyone react to it, literally no one. Some people don't even give it a chance because Slash isn't in it, but to me it's got some of their best songs overall. *There Was A Time* for instance is my favorite GN'R song. Guns N Roses really ONLY had two albums. Appetite for Destruction (1987) & Use Your Illusion l & ll (1991) GNR Lies was just a small EP that they released with a couple unreleased tracks that included Patience. They broke up after the Illusion albums. Axl did Chinese Democracy in the 2000’s but he was the only original member so it sounds NOTHING like a GNR album and isn’t considered a GNR album by fans. I wouldn’t do EVERY song on the illusion albums but I think you did many of the best songs on those albums: Civil War, November Rain, Dont Cry, Estranged, Coma, Live & Let Die, Knockin on Heavens Door, etc. I would say YOU COULD BE MINE, Locomotive, The Garden, Get in the Ring are some other good ones on those albums. It’s not as hard as the other albums more bluesy and punk. Fantastic though!

The Chinese Democracy album is garbage but I do really like the the first song on it which is self-titled 'Chinese Democracy'. Bought the album and was super-hyped after track number 1 but the rest took a severe nosedive with Axl's voice sounding more feminine throughout and really, really poor songs. As for the Illusion albums, I agree with exactly what you say and your choice of songs. I do however like 'Pretty Tied Up' especially after seeing it live in Tokyo '92.
