Guy won the first Australian Idol in 2003. He’s a coach on the Voice and the first artist to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest. He’s broken a number of Aussie music records and never sings a bad song. He writes all his own music, lyrics and plays guitar, violin, piano and drums.

The incredible thing is that Guy sings the rap as well during this performance. He wrote it without the rap but he decided to send it to Lupe Fiasco in the USA and ask if he would write the rap...Lupe did and they made the single Battle Scars. Lupe also included this in his new album which was nominated for a Grammy. And in Australia it was a #1 hit for Lupe and Guy & making it onto the USA Billboards charts. Guy writes all his own songs & writes about real situations & life struggles. He is a Judge on The Voice Australia. An Amazing human Liked and Subbed more Guy please lol

You can look at a live concert by Cold Chisel (his band), for some great rock songs, and for his soul music, look for something under his name, Jimmy Barnes. You won't regret it.

First time I ever heard Guy Sebastian was because I went to Sydney for World Youth Day. Probably a lot of people here wouldn't know, but he featured in the theme song for that event, which is called "Receive the Power"... a powerful song for sure. 😊

excellent reaction! :] guy is a much-loved australian musician and singer/songwriter. others have probably already given you his background. the one good thing about him too is he's a genuinely nice guy. he tried breaking into the US market with this song which is his most popular. it features lupe fiasco. other great songs to check out are "choir" (the school visit one is a feel-good version) and also "standing with you."

Great reaction. Guy writes the most heartfelt songs about “the human condition” based on his experiences and those around him. Genuinely nice person and incredibly talented. His other songs Standing With You (about battling depression), Choir (dedication to his friend who took his own life), Believer and Who I Love and I Chose Good (dedicated to his wife), and his newest song Antidote are beautifully crafted and delivered with his amazing vocals. This song was his biggest hit internationally. This performance was during Covid lockdowns where a few Aussie artists sang to us. Guy is known for his vocal runs and he is really developing that falsetto especially in his newest song, Antidote.

Just a fact ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Anzac Day falls on the 25th of April each year. The 25th of April was officially named Anzac Day in 1916. On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. We now used that day we give respect for service. As Aussie we had alot singer people don't think they Aussie like AC/DC but we call them ACCA DACCA. Human Nature, Savage Garden, Tina Arena, Sia, Olivia Newton-John this just to name a few.

Guy was on World Idol the year after he won Australian Idol. He started out with a frow and he still had it then. Simon Cowell actually said that Guy probably had the best voice of the lot, but he took exception to his look/the frow, which to me was unfair. Anyway Guy did not win, Kurt Nilsen, the Norwegian won. Guy has had a continuous career here in Australia. He is or was also a singing teacher.

Had him join her on stage to sing one of his biggest hits that she loves and has covered often. Looked like he didn't quite know how to respond, lol. She's got good taste though. There are quite a few Australian artists that are only big in Australia, but deserve world-wide acclaim. John Farnham (especially 'You're the Voice', 'Burn for You' and his cover of 'Help' by the Beatles.) Diesel is another brilliant Aussie... especially live. Would snap your brain in half! In the original the verses are rapped by Lupe Fiasco. This performance is incredible, but I can't get past how tone deaf it is to sing a song using war as an analogy for heart break when it is dedicated to actual veterans. The song is good and the performance is amazing, but don't compare a break up to front line war trauma. Still I do recommend checking out more Guy, he's an amazingly talented singer.
