We have sang this hymn in church since I was a kid in the early 70’s and we still sing it. We sing it a wee bit faster so you gotta have some lungs to keep up. Love the words to this song, thank you God for Jesus! I believe Hank Sr. write this song, at least that’s who I saw perform it on tv reruns back in the day. ❤

Yes Hank Sr wrote it and recorded it in his first session with MGM Records, released in 1948.

You're seeing some great legands singing with HWJ. Hank Sr. Wrote this song. I read an autobiography by Country comedian Minnie Pearl. She said that Hank Sr was riding in a car with her to a show. As they were talking, she could tell he was very sad. Toward the end of the ride, He told her, "Minnie, l can't see the light anymore." She didn't get a chance to talk more with him. Not long after this, Hank died. So hard to believe you've never heard this song before. Didn't you ever sing it in Church? You should listen to Hank Sr sing it.
