Heart is one of the best bands to come out of Seattle and they're undoubtedly the GREATEST female fronted rock band of all time and are up there among the all-time greats of any gender. Ann Wilson's one of the most powerful and incredible vocalists ever and Nancy kicks so much ass on guitar and a dozen other instruments and can sing beautifully too!

So many great Heart songs but this one is my favorite. Great reaction, Dub. Thank you! If you haven't seen it, check out Heart live at the Kennedy Center 2012 doing Stairway to Heaven in a tribute to Led Zeppelin, with Zep's 3 surviving members looking on. Nobody thinks anybody can cover that iconic song and do it justice. Heart can, and did.

95% of their catalogue is written by the Wilson sisters. Some of the 80s stuff was by outside writers because of the record companies, and you're right that Alone is actually a cover but virtually nobody has heard the original. I've been looking for it for a while now.

The group "Heart" consists primarily of two sisters: Ann Wilson is the dark-haired sister with the phenomenal voice, and Nancy Wilson is the blond who is a skilled guitarist and pianist (and she can sing, too). They, of course, have their band, but the sisters are the heart of Heart. You MUST react to Magic Man, the studio version is as fantastic as any live version, as it seems like the band was just jamming. The other Heart song that most people feel is a must is Barracuda. Heart has a lot of terrific hits, but I think Magic Man would be a great follow-up.

This is 80s Heart which is a world away from 70s Heart. Still great, but very different. What you need to check out from Heart still is Magic Man, and Crazy on you. No videos for those, but they are bangers and classic Heart. Great bands that are all female of have female members/artists: Blondie-everyone checks out Heart of Glass first, you should wait on that one and go back to their punk roots first. Detroit 442 is a good example. B-52s- to really appreciate the girls vocals, Roam is a good choice, but you could literally pick anything from this band. Warning: they are...quirky.. The Bangles- one of THE best all female groups. For the love of god, don't start with Walk Like an Egyptian. I recommend In Your Room or Hazy Shade of Winter These are just for starters. I have a ton more.

It's not as different as people think. It's more commercial and it's hair metal, but the biggest difference is the type of songs the record company released as singles. In the 70s it was mainly hard rockers released as singles, but in the 80s and 90s the record company seemed to only care about power ballads. The only place you could hear the rockers were on album oriented rock stations (thank God for them). The title cut from Bad Animals is a great track that stands up alongside any of Heart's 70s material, same goes for tracks like Wild Child, Black on Black, If Looks Could Kill, The Night, and several others. Brigade had some really great material, but if you only heard the singles you'd think Heart was a whiny ballad band.
