I was 8 when this song came out, my brother was 5, and our parents who were 60s, 70s, 80s rock fans exclusively. No jazz, no classical, no blues really (other than the Blues Brothers), nothing else really. We heard this song first on one of the NYC music stations they listened to, maybe 95.5 WPLJ or even possibly 104.3 krock. They were and still are very set in their ways, but even they didn't turn this to another station (our car had no CD player either) so I was like wow, must be pretty good and/or mind blowing. Still blows my mind when I hear this as an adult.

I still have two of his vinyl albums bought in 1984. I was hugely surprised to see him pop up with this song. Excellent pop reggae funk fusion in 1984, still playing it 🙃

I remember when Ini Kamoze first came up in the '80s--he was playing roots/conscious/Rasta type music. I was a little surprised when he went pop with this song, but happy for his success.

I've been waiting for you to do this song for so long now. The only other one I've wanted to see you react to, whenever you're doing 70s stuff again, is Parliament Funkadelic's 'Give Up The Funk'. Thanks again for this!

Hey Jay! The music is a sample of a song from the late 70s/early 80s called Heartbeat by Tanaa Gardner. 💃🏽
