If there's ever a heavy metal band who you should see live, it's this band. They are highly audience centric but as important, their fans are some of the most loyal. I'm in my early 50's and have loved them since I was a teenager. Their fans treat one another like family, go to a concert and you will become part of this family. Do it!

Maiden's overall sound and songwriting centers on one man - Steve Harris, the bass player. That man's 'galloping' bass is the foundation of Iron Maiden's sound, then the vocals and fantastic guitars are built around it. Listen to more of their songs you'll hear what I'm talking about with the 'galloping' bass. The lead singer Bruce Dickinson is trained in opera singing.

35 or more yrs later and listen to Bruce Dickenson's voice. Powerful and Majestic and he is 60+. That is truly the test of what is ICONIC !!!! If you've never been to a rock concert, Maiden is an amazing first jump. They are on tour this year. I've got tix to see them in Sept here in Cali. That will be my 6th time seeing them.

They have their own jet and the lead singer Bruce Dickinson is the pilot. They tour worldwide to this day and put out new music as we speak . The crowd you see here is. I surprise at any of their venues . Furthermore their fans overseas are just as excited to see them as in their own country the UK . The USA loves them too. They have a unique dynamic with their guitars as they have 3 lead guitars as well as the bass guitar. The bass player Steve Harris is never heard singing but he’s the founding member and they have replaced many many members over the years

This is from their "Flight 666" concert album and they're in Chile. Their singer, Bruce Dickinson is an airplane pilot. In the concert video, they fly with him as the pilot to all the countries they could never tour before, because their managers said it was too expensive. Flight 666 is live songs from all the places they flew to in their own plane.

Good point, Crys, both of you, actually, everything comes together, meshes well to serve the song. I remember going to a Toronto bar where Nirvana (sadly, missed 'em) and many other rising stars had played to see a co-worker's band and telling the evening's soundman, one of the most in-demand in town, that if he just lowered the kick(bass)drum in the mix a hair or two, the vocals would be that much clearer - he did, and they were. We've become so accustomed in the wake of peak disco and subsequent dance music surges and movements, be they hip-hop, rave-culture and EDM or whatever to focus excessively on drums and that massive, insistent boom boom boom at the expense of much of the other content of a given track, or the music in general. imo, anyway. ;>D My late English uncle David used to work with bassist/primary songwriter Steve Harris as architectural draughtsmen way back when. There was a time when much of the focus on a new Maiden tour was on the latest iteration/"incarnation" of their mascot, Eddie, a sort of robotic or animatronic 'Walking Dead' figure...how big is this one? Any cool news around moves or mobility, etc.? Always been smart metal, though, something to think on.

Maiden fans in South America are rabid, this one is in Chile I think......Your analysis is excellent....It shows you two are really listening to it and not just hearing it, and that is very respectful to the genre and the band...most people who werent into the Hard Rock/Metal genre back in the 80's and even into the 90's, treated the music and the people who listened to it, like a joke and gave zero respect to it even though the musicianship was phenomenal, so, thank you for giving it props.... This is one of the few Iron Maiden songs where I would have preferred the studio version, there's a handful of songs that Bruce is starting to struggle to sing live and this is one of them. Still would love to see more live performances, pretty much anything off of their live "Flight 666" DVD is great stuff. "2 Minutes to Midnight" would probably be my first choice from that DVD. PLEASE SKIP RUN TO THE HILLS. LITERALLY EVERYONE DOES IT, IT'S OVERPLAYED AND THEY HAVE WAY BETTER SONGS. These guys have like 15+ albums, there's a ton of material to check out. The only reason people recommend Run To the Hills is because it's their one song that everyone knows, not because it's one of their best songs, just because it became popular through Guitar Hero or whatever else. The Trooper is in the same category in my opinion.

The best Iron Maiden live music will be "Maiden England" and back. I'm talking about the late '80s. I have been an Iron Maiden fan to this point and I love the band and their history in music, but there is a big difference between Iron Maiden at the end of the '80s and Iron Maiden of the '90s to the present times. Just can't stand Janick Gers butchering Adrian Smith's solos and his BS on stage, and to be honest, Maiden is just producing music that keeps them a float
