4:26 It's actually quite difficult to pinpoint a style for BTS since they literally do everything from neosoul to latin pop to battle rap. 😅 And that's not even counting their solo careers - if you include those then you have RM rapping with Megan Thee Stallion, and V's latest release is a duet version with Bing Crosby of White Christmas. It's one of the great charms of BTS: There's always a song to fit your mood. Add to that that they often write about unusual subjects such as mental health problems, socioeconomic issues, Greek mythology, Jungian psychology, astronomy, and even marine biology, and you have some of the reasons they have a fandom of all ages, genders, nationalities, and faiths. And yes, they're good looking but more importantly they're extremely talented and dedicated musicians, genuinely good, philanthropic people, and they're funny AF. 😂 If you're willing to give them a try I'd recommend something like Black Swan, ON Kinetic Manifesto, or We On (a golden oldie 😅) for starters. You definitely won't regret it. 👍 ~ from a Danish ARMY (BTS's fandom's name), age 49 💜

Explaining BTS to normies: not a boyband, not a kpop group, not pop The best way to describe what BTS is is to say that they are an artist collective of 7 korean man (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) who came together as a group adjacent to the "idol trainee system" in the kpop industry. It's hard to fit the definition of what BTS is in one simple category. At their core they are just artists who have a deep passion and love for music, of all kinds. Each of them mastering their own fields while also always expanding their tastes and abilities with each other's help and guidance. All involved in the process of making the music, all of them with credits as producers, writers, composers at some point and to various degrees in their careers. All incredibly hardworking and commited to each other and their goal as a group.

This was written by Taka and Toru (OOR's guitarist), and you can feel the OOR influence on the overall song, just poppier than their own stuff. Taka has always said that he is interested in exploring other genres. In a recent interview he also said he might actually try singing country music. and what's hilarious is that in his free time he listens to healing music not rock LOL :)) I'm not much of a BTS fan since they started to make all of their songs sound alike after their Western boom. They had varied songs when they were only big in Korea, but now every BTS song just feels like every other BTS song. Jin's voice is nice though.
@el-ul8ky2 күн бұрын
I'm just genuinely curious. Did you ever listen to the members solo stuff tho? Like Agust D's D-Day, RM's Indigo/RPWP, Jhope's Jack In The Box/Hope On The Street Vol.1 and some of the vocal lines solo albums? Because whenever I see comments abt this, I just assume they just stopped listening and that they just didn't have the bother to do so. I just don't get how some people (or former fans) think that they just sound the same or too poppy after releasing atleast three english songs and dominating the western music industry. When in actuality, all they're doing is expanding and making the music that they love and are passionate about. Just like what they always do from day one. The very essence of BTS is still there but some others failed to see it over three english songs. Also saying "BTS song sounds like every other BTS songs"? Is such a bizarre way to describe it. How come, when from their whole career they didn't stick from a one specific sound? They always change in every era, every year. I truly think that some "fans" simply preferred it when BTS were underdogs/outsiders and they simply lost interest because they became too popular in the west. Well, let's just wait and see until 2025-2026 if people could stick to their words that they become to poppy and sounded the same. I'm just tired of hearing this same argument over and over again.

@@el-ul8ky I told you, I'm not a BTS fan, and I don't think I'm obliged to listen to every single song they ever put out. I have a couple on my playlist from waaay back in time. anything else I heard from them recently in passing were subpar in musical quality. That's my opinion. you can disagree, of course.

@@Xia-hu I think the reason they questioned you is bc that makes no sense. In between their 3 english songs they released BE and their japanese album, both of which sound no more or less ^westernized" than anything they did prior, their music has always been inspired by western genres of music (as all of kpop), the only difference is that they explored pop sounds more during the pandemic. But they never stoped what they were doing prior Run BTS, Yet to Come, For Youth are all track in their last album Proof and none of them are in english or pop songs. Ever since then the only members who did pop were JK and Jimin. RM went all over the place in his album Indigo from folk, to neo-soul, a mixture of grundge and cyberpunk, hiphop, suga went full trap in d-day, jhope went hiphop rock in Jack in the Box and then dance music on Hope on the Street which is an OST album for a documentray abt his dancing. V's entire album is just blues, jazz, soul and is now releasing christmas music (something he has done in the past too). Jimin and JK are the only ones you can say leaned into pop more in their solo albums but both in different lanes and Jimin's music also has an overall narrative abt his own personal struggles. Everyone has personal tastes in music, but you clearly just haven"t been paying attention to their projects if think all their music sound alike now (which you are right, you don't have to do, but then don't be surprised when their fans who have been paying attetion to their music come to correct you). BTS are incredibly diverse in their music bc they have 7 different talented artists. They have never abandoned "the old BTS" they just expanded it. It's not their fault the music industry does not praise them for anything expect for their english pop songs. When you actually anazlise their music and trajectory, pop is just another genre they have in their arsonal as a supergroup.

@@secretyidentity2833 100% this. I was going to say something similar. There's no issue with having one's own opinions, even when they're based on wrong information. But there's also nothing wrong with fans correcting wrong information for anyone else who happens by and reads the info that perpetuates bias and false information that we see every day. I bet I couldn't say something like "I liked that one song by One OK Rock, We Are, but nothing else they do has a version with youth choirs, so I am just not a fan. Everything else is a country music ballad" wiithout One OK Rock fans - rightfully - correcting me.

@@user-zm6co9im8u Depends on what "older songs" you've listened to and your own music taste, but they are definitely more than just a band that "can sing and dance." What most BTS fans have found is that the beauty is often in their b-sides, and even in their Japanese songs. It's all personal taste, of course, but nearly everything on my "favorites" list for BTS requires more than listening to what made it to the charts. And just for context, I'm in my 50's now, and I've seen some of the true greats in music live - Paul Simon, Michael Jackson, Journey, Steve Miller Band, Foreigner, Styx, Elton John/Billy Joel, The Cars, ZZ Top, Mellencamp, James Taylor, and many more. BTS, and more recently member j-hope at Lollapalooza, were equally as good as or better than a lot of these...and I loved all of these other artists live as well.
