Check out a live video by them next :) I recommend "Pit Of Consciousness" live in Kiev. It's just one of my favourites, but the audio quality is actually amazing on that one.

Spirit box started in 2016 and Jinjer 2009(2010). If they sound the same (what they don’t as you notice) the correct fair way to say should be “we don’t need another Jinjer like band”. I do love Spirit Box though but Jinjer is my favorite overall.

oh yeah totally!!! but i dont think anyone can be like jinjer they have their own unique sound!! which im loving about them! cant wait to hear more! thanks for watching btw :)

@@offthecufff when they blew the charts with Pisces the date was 2017. Spiritbox and Bad Omens are just eggs (i mean new bands). As you hear, they're too complex and progressive for tiktok fame or Octanecore. Also they are serious live band and want their albums to be organic an live-ish. No electronics, no synths, just a bit backing vocals because of no other one in the band sings except Tatiana. A unique band, unique sound. If necessary, we can put them into Gojira, Mastodon, Lamb of God, Meshuggah, Between The Buried and Me, Periphery or Dilllinger Escape Plan neighbourhood.

For me they DO have their own unique sound. Yes there are noticeable elements of other bands (Opeth, Gojira, Lamb of God). But that's true of every band--there's nothing truly new under the sun, as they say. Jinjer carve their own niche though. I've heard many people saying they consider Jinjer to be a genre in and of themselves, since there are so many genres and sub-genres represented in their music. For me they hit the sweet spot of the perfect amount of the things I need!

Side note, Tati and Eugene have said Exposed as a Liar (very early Jinjer song) was trying to sound like IWABO.
@baynuman3 ай бұрын
@@ZachComa i know that. even C. Laplante (when she was IWABO) said "female Protest The Hero" for Jinjer when she heard the song. But that time's sound reflected the founding members' taste actually. Jinjer left that metalcore-mathcore thing and lighted the groove metal torch later with Roman-Eugene-Tati trio. And then Vlad came and they added progressiveness to their music

Opeth crossed with Lamb of God crossed with Gwen Stafani .... Every Jinjer song offers something surprising and different. You are going to love it. Great reaction, thank you!

Jinjer wears their varied influences on their sleeve so it's hard to pin them down to a genre. The influences range from Lamb of God, Mudvayne, OTEP, Opeth, No Doubt and Reggae and Jazz. Something I like a lot because when I played music I played a lot of styles. Their producer/engineer is Max Morton. He's been with them from basically the beginning. He prefers to get real drums if he can and Vlad (their drummer who started as a classical pianist, went to guitar and then drums) has a very unique playing style and kit that it would be a shame not to capture in their music. They are known as a live band. Well over 30 videos on KZbin at this point and you pretty much can't go wrong with the official ones and even some of the unofficial ones. A common impression is that though their official music videos are good a lot of them can't compete with the live version because they just have an energy to them. It sounds like your preferences lean toward the heavy side so I would suggest Mediator, Vortex, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv (the band is from Ukraine), Captain Clock Live at Resurrection Fest, Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air 2019, Who is Gonna be the One Live, Sit Stay Roll Over, Outlander Official Live at Loudfest, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal. Cloud Factory Live, No Hoard of Value. All that spans about 15 years of their work.

Lol that's why I scroll the comments before commenting on Jinjer reactions. I couldn't have said it any better than Coder did here. I'll just say: Ditto!

The drummer, Vlad is absolutely amazing, but then so are the other three! I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer! I love the portrayals in this video of Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and (I think) Georgia O'Keefe, although since we know Tatiana loves Frida Kahlo (as do I) because of that tattoo on her arm, I will always think of that character in this video as Georgia O'Keefe on the outside and Frida Kahlo on the inside. 🔥Welcome to Jinjer, Alex! I just found your channel, saw your Jinjer reaction and subbed, great reaction! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces in 2019 (which is most people's first exposure to Jinjer for some good reasons), I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wake up alarm for a few years and I still love it more every time I hear it, snooze is a thing of the past). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and a mother quoting her four year old wanting to see the "lion lady" again 🤣 All four current members of Jinjer have essentially no formal musical training except Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the last album Wallflowers (next album is done recording, but not out yet). Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. Jinjer has been a tour-heavy band, touring almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and much of the time since then (with interruptions by covid and the US backed coup/proxy war), hard work that has made them fantastic live performers. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine (Donetsk) in 2008 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see their former guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, in older videos on guitar and a more recent video (Disclosure) playing an interrogator. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that could do well together in one reaction if you're so inclined). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Pisces (live session with some backing tracks), Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken 2019, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official is the studio audio with some great footage from several shows), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Thank you, Alex! I know you'll keep trying out more Jinjer songs and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

Oh my.... well,Jinjer is "jinjerish", they do Jinjer things. What does that mean? Well, every time you think you know them, what to expect to come next to hear in a song they simply change it! For the next Jinjer songs be prepared to entera rollercoaster, only sitting in a real rollercoaster you always know where to come out in the end. With Jinjer you never know!

its all about perspective. i think Jinjer has refined and evolved their sounds far better and quicker in the bands career than spiritbox. you cant really compare the two singers are both are great but for me tati edges almost everyone else out by sheer talent alone. best singer/harsh vocalist in all of metal for me. that being said the rest of the band is really why jinjer are where they are. those boys just know what they doing and got there sound nailed.
@JonNo863 ай бұрын
I just had this thought the other day... Especially when it comes to the drums, but with the band as a whole, Jinjer is probably the last great "acoustic" metal band in the world. They said years ago they will never write something they can't play with the instruments in their hands!

Great reaction! They also do a lot of playthroughs, so if that’s your vibe definitely check those out. Even double features of an OMV with then a playthrough. Vlad is an absolute beast on the drums, his playthroughs are insane 🤘🏻 In fact, he is SO fucking tight and precise that he would give midi run for its money
@ericpeterson75123 ай бұрын
Exactamente! They play to a click track live, and Vlad is super precise. His style is extremely ergonomical, real economy of motion. It looks very repeatable, in contrast to many drummers. I've spent a lot of time watching Neil Peart, for example. Neil hit every drum like the impact point was three inches below the drumhead. Of course he played dynamically, but at full throttle he was slamming. Watch him play, and with every snare hit his neck would snap to the side. It's a wonder he could pull that off for all those years, and it finally got to be too much for even him. Vlad's style seems much more relaxed somehow. The impacts less severe on the joints. More like a jazz player. It's more about leverage, drum tuning, and using them microphones!
@spiknaaj3 ай бұрын
@@ericpeterson7512 funny you mentioned the economy of motion - you couldn't be more right. I've also thought the exact same thing about Roman's playing. His play though of "Pit of Consciousness" absolutely melts my brain, just how smooth and effortlessly he seems to play it.
@ericpeterson75123 ай бұрын
@@spiknaaj Roman's right hand is almost inhumanly precise. I can't even fathom how he can be so consistent on songs like Sit Stay Rollover. All the playthrough videos boggle my mind. One of my favorites is I Speak Astronomy. In that "come and join me in my rotation" part the chords are so out. I'm like "How the hell is that what he's playing!" Blows my mind that Tatiana came up with that melody over those chords. She somehow brings melodic reason to the madness. They're alchemists!
@spiknaaj3 ай бұрын
@@ericpeterson7512 so criminally underrated. I mean yes, we all know Vlad is a robot and Eugene is an absolute groove master, let alone goddess Tati, but I feel because Roman doesn’t let it shred with solos, he’s just forgotten about. Boggles the mind
