People don’t understand how good Steve Perry really is! He is perfect in his pitch, tone, and range. When you put his music on a vocal analysis decoder, his shit is perfect, it’s amazing. Back when he was recording, they didn’t have the technology to change the voice like they do today. He’s truly in the top 2 all time vocalist. Study him and you’ll see. Best thing, he’s still alive and still singing. He’s a great humble and normal dude who left it all , fame and fortune for 25 years and recently came back.

Absolutely a beautiful song beautiful vocals. Saw them live in 79 and 82. Steve is renowned for his countertenor vocal range and the same live as recorded, just phenomenal...Dubbed "The Voice" In the Top “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”. Arnel Pineda has done a great job with journey but Steve is like no other...Thanx for the memories, Great reaction, Peace.

It's great to see younger people enjoying the music from my Era. Journey has been my favorite band since 1980. So many great musicians came out of the 70s and 80s!

Not only is Steve Perry's voice absolutely phenomenal, his voice and Neal's guitar combined to be possibly the most potent one-two punch in rock history. I can't think of ANY singer/lead guitarist combo who played off each other better than Steve Perry and Neal Schon.

I graduated in '87 and this song was always on MTV & radio during Spring Break. It's too bad great songs like this got forgotten by radio stations. Instead they play "Don't Stop Believin'" for the billionth time! Other forgotten JOURNEY radio singles: "The Party's Over" "Walks Like A Lady" "Still They Ride" "After The Fall" "Just The Same Way"

Definitely a dual meaning in this song, as BJ observed. A song to the fans, as well as to an old friend and/or former lover. If you don't have a picture of this man (Steve Perry) on your wall yet, you need to get one up there. Nobody sang like him. Nobody else was so precise, so emotive, so unique.

Another great track from Raised On Radio (IMO their 2nd best album, after Frontiers), Jonathan Cain really brought them to new heights in the songwriting department. Love Perry's voice with a bit of grit to it, a shame that this change of style and constant touring eventually took it's toll and forced his to quit performing for a few years. He did make one more album with Journey, but his voice was never quite the same. Check out ASK THE LONELY for a more up tempo rocker. Cheers
@williamfisher82392 жыл бұрын
Steve dint quit Journey. He. Seeded a break after ROR and 20 years of constant touring and then recording and then touring. He was fired by Cain and Schon after getting the band together again for TBF and not wanting a hip I jury and surgical decision to be a group decision in exploring his options for treatment. The break after ROR and then his hip situation was not acceptable to other band members who wanted to tour vs. Wait around again for Perry. In any event, they went their separate ways and each is doing well and still experiencing solo and group success.
@j.j.hayden94612 жыл бұрын
@@williamfisher8239 Maybe quit is not the right word, as the group was put on hiatus due to him basically withdrawing from the music scene altogether.
