Morgane Stapleton is not just his backing vocalist but his soulmate and she’s largely responsible for convincing him to step forward as a performer. Prior to his staggering success, he was behind the scenes writing hit songs for other country artists. She also writes songs along with her beautiful voice. She and Chris together are a force of nature and have their own genre😂🌺✌️

This background story is always twisted for some reason.... it’s actually Morgane who suffered from stage fright. Chris sang with his group The Steeldrivers for years, then went solo and encouraged Morgane to go on stage with him. She worked as a songwriter in Nashville and had a record deal as well, but it didn’t go very far. In her own words, she “had an aversion to the spotlight.”

No matter how many times I see this I am continually amazed at the energy on that stage. This is what happens when great singers and great musicians get together. A legendary live performance. Someone else mentioned another collab that they did. The video for Say Something was shot live in one take. Another terrific song you will love.

Try Tennessee Whiskey live at Austin City Limits, where it's just Chris and his wife, Morgane. You'll get a totally different vibe. Always listen to live versions of Chris, except, "Fire Away," which you need the video for to get full impact, as it highlights mental illness. Keep going down the rabbit hole. "I Was Wrong," live at Austin City Limits (there's a great guitar solo at the end you won't get on the studio version), "Death Row," "Cold," "Arkansas," "Watch You Burn."
