Katrina Velarde is a vocal BEAST and she should be an international Superstar household name. This is probably as close to Whitney Houston as any singer on the planet. She is in my top 15 Pop singers ever.

Back then it cost little to nothing to hear her at that music bar and restaurant. I visited Manila a few times and was blown away by her ability to sing consistently in two near hour long singing sessions. In that small place it was princely to hear her live while having a beer and snacks. I felt like a billionaire.

Pls check out her SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW, the one at Music Hall Metrowalk, & I SURRENDER duet with Jessica Villarubin, the one on Katrina's channel. Also Gigi De Lana's THROUGH THE FIRE, BETTER DAYS, OFFICIALLY MISSING YOU & ALL I ASK. You've never heard of these singers bc they're based in the Philippines. Katrina & Gigi were actually very underrated singers for decades, joining singing contests since they were very young. They only became popular a few years ago since some of their videos became viral on KZbin, & KZbinrs from other countries started reacting to them.

somewhere over the rainbow is an essential, although i prefer more recent live renditions, or the one take stylized version where she has short dark hair, if for no other reason than audio quality; all are epic performances.
