So if you had asked me in my high school and college days in the 80s if I was a Madonna fan, I would have said not particularly. Then it occurred to me during a recent drive to Iowa and back as I listened to my huge 80s collection, that she has about 20 songs in there! And I really like them all. She also had a great talent for reinventing herself every few years and changing her sound. I guess this is me coming out of the closet ... damn, I'm a Madonna fan!

Personally, I consider her one of the greatest artists ever. Her life is like a mural that she’s been painting for decades. It’s a collage of her personal journey, music, videos, dance, movies (bad and good), controversies, opinions, stands, iconic looks, pictures, and outfits, her views on faith, relationships, fame, concerts, etc. Her LIFE is her greatest work of art. I’m challenged to think of many other artists who can compare.

Madonna ruled the airwaves and television sets in the 80's. She was huge!! I'll never forget when she did this song live at the MTV awards I believe. She has a ton of great songs. Watch her in the movie Who's That Girl. A really fun movie to watch. The title track Who's That Girl was also a big hit. It seemed like everything she touched turned to gold.

Listen to her earliest singles: her voice is tinny, thin, abrasive, childish. After lessons? Full bodied, nuanced. Great reaction Shon! This is the song that made Madonna a star! Produced by Nile Rodgers, video shot in Venice. I believe this was her first big budget video. Interestingly, her voice was pitched slightly higher for early recordings, they thought she sounded too old. I love that you noticed the lion’s tongue pop on beat 😆 More Madonna please!! Perhaps Express Yourself or Vogue? Keep in mind that Madonna shines best when performing live. If you have the opportunity to react to anything from any of her concerts, please do! Then you have GOT to listen to the song from 1986 from Clerence Clemons and Jackson Browne called "You're A Friend Of Mine." That has got to be the 80s song with the most sax in it! INCREDIBLE BEAT and I absolutely GUARANTEE ONE MILLION PERCENT...it WILL GET YA GOIN'! It's my favorite song from the 80s featuring a duo and because it's so fast and upbeat.
