True blue is classic Madonna it was a big hit I enjoyed it but I just think as you move forward into her career you're going to see Madonna the true artist and then the rest is history 😊

Yes definitely an homage to 50s/60s girl do-wap groups. Very nostalgic and feel good. Madonna always has one multi-generational, inoffensive song on each album, that grandma's and kids can enjoy and this is a good example of one. "True Blue" is an entrenched saying here in Australia, meaning loyal and honest. It's something her actor husband Sean Penn used to say to her (not sure where he heard it, possibly from an Australian actor in Hollywood at the time).
