This song incorporated the Gay Ball Scene from back in the day. Gay people, mostly of color would get together and put on extravagant Balls where they competed with dancing and elaborate costumes often inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood or Royalty for example. the Stylized dancing was called Vogue.

She was at a club. She heard there were dancers there, guys doing this dance. Professional dancers. She asked the person who told her to bring the guys over and to do it in front of her. They did and I don’t know how it all came together, but the guys are in the video. She’s been accused of stealing the dance, but they said know that their dance she made their dance famous, because of her and them this dance was a whole scene in the clubs at the time of the video. She created a huge fad that went on for a long time. “Vogue” was a dance involving poses many people were doing. Madonna is one of the smartest creators of our times to have used and brought this smart dance to the the public dance scene and to mtv and vh1.

To "vogue" is to strike these poses like she and the dancers are doing - like you're posing for a high-fashion photo shoot.

Notice that it was in black and white. All the people she mentioned were from thee movies. But not just any movies, but from the silver screen. Before color movies were all done in black and white. We didn’t know their stories because the studios owned them. The studios didn’t tell the public their sordid details. They made up stories about them that the public thought were true. Madonna and the rest of the public gave homage to the silver screen actors. Madonna idolizes them here. The studios covered up the addicts and bad things about these artist and gave them pills to be up or down to make their movies and thus money. We see on the reelz channel some of their lives were not so appealing. I like what Madonna did here remembering them.

There was a time in the '80s when, if you had an issue with someone, you didn't "take it outside," you battle danced on the dance floor. Crowd chose the winner. No violence, and great dancing. If you knew how to Vogue or break dance, you had a good shot at winning.
@albertoolarte2063 жыл бұрын
With her talents, vision, and artistic touch really separate her from other music artists in her generation. Even spanning her creative musical career up to the present. Probably, if all the radio station’s across the US did continue to play her music, ( ageism kills the 80’s ) up to now, specially the new great Albums she released without having an airplay due to the artist age issue ( in America if you are 50, you are done ) Madonna is one of the greatest singers of all time, maybe not the best vocalist in the world, but she’s relatable like her music, shes an exceptional story teller, and her message really breaks barrier, and influence people across the globe. Dominates the billboards for quite a time, toppling big names in the music world that ruled mostly by men artists only. She just came out of nowhere, she’s challenged the entertainment world, she made a huge impact globally, she’ has succeeded, become the most successful solo artist of all time ( female ) according to the Guinness World Records. The rest of her story truly is history, but Her legacy lives on, and no matter what they say, like it or not, The QUEEN of Pop is here to STAY! ❤️👍

Marlon Brando - Iconic Legenday actor! Rita Hayworth, dancer, producer actor from the 1940's considered to be one o f the best of that time. Ginger Rodgers and Fred Astaire were an AMAZING iconic and legendary dance partners, considered in the dance industry to be the greatest if not among the greatest of all time (hence Madonna's line in this song "danced on air") and James Dean was hearthrob mega star actor from the 50's. who died tragically very young I believe 25 or so. Grace Kelly was a GORGEOUS American Actress who later when on to be the Princess of Monaco! Madonna Jammed alot of names into this song to pay tribute! I know I missed a few...
