Man in the mirror is my favorite MJ song. Such a great message. I love all of the percussive elements of his singing performance. He adds so much texture, color and individuality with all of the add libs and inflections. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his vocal performances. The song could be sung prettily by any singer but all of his performance elements make it unique and instantly identifiable. It’s hard to do for a lot of singers and it’s hard to think of another vocal performance that’s so unique. Maybe Luther’s a house is not a home (the opening), Whitney’s I will always love you, and Nina Simone’s I’m feeling good

Michael definitely gotten more deeper on the world with songs like "Earth song”. Michael was public enemy #1 in the 90s, all the media scrutiny led to his death because he was too different. Michael own security even had to contest to Michael being a genuinely great human, secretly handing out $10,000 to the homeless with no cameras on him.

@@Snyper1405Right!!! You can tell who was real and fake around him. It was Michael father who got him through that second trial and it was before Michael rectified his relationship with his father and understood him as a man. Michael had too much of mother in him, which is good but dangerous because his softness/naivety got him surrounded by snakes and scumming families.

Absolute classic song written by Siedah Garret and performed perfectly by Mike. And yes, I agree with those saying you gotta see the 1988 Grammy performance of The Way You Make Me Feel / Man In the Mirror. The Grammys refused to give him any awards that night for all the nominations he had for Bad, but he absolutely stole the entire show with his performance.

mj was one of the few artists to dedicate his musical talent to pass messages about environmental, racial and humanitarian causes to raise people's awareness, it's no wonder that until today he is in Guinness as the artist who donated the most to charity, even in the Testament he divided between the mother, the children and the rest to be donated to charity, there are still those who doubt the purity of this guy. 🤍

This song and many others you'll hear in the future is part of the reason the core base of Michael Jackson fans are dedicated to defending him and sharing his music. Not just because he's a stellar singer and dancer, but his music has the power to bring awareness and change people one at a time. He'd already done a couple message songs before this with his brothers by this time, Can You Feel It being a big one, with an amazing Short film he conceived of himself way before Thriller in a time when people just weren't doing that. Back then, a music video was just a promotional video of an act performing their song to sell it to record executives. Also from the Jacksons Victory Album, which was after Thriller the song Be Not Always was another message song from him that really gets slept on. There are many more message songs going forward in his career from here, but I thought I'd go back and let you know about those ones he did with his brothers. I would definitely recommend a react to the Can You Feel It short film though. He was so young when he made that but the imagination and vision was already there.

If you think this song was emotional and sad, & upsetting, just wait till you get to MJs "EARTH SONG" from 1995s "HIStory" 😊😊. You just WAIT! Other contenders for saddest, most upsetting MJ songs are "Little Susie" from HIStory (darkest song he ever did) "Gone too soon" from 1991s DANGEROUS "Who is it" from DANGEROUS "We've had enough" (originally supposed to be a song on DANGEROUS but didn't make the the album. It's still from that Era)

As the saying by Gandhi "Be the change that you want you want to see in the world." I feel as though the antidote to hate, prejudice and bigotry are understanding, compassion and empathy for the other person who are at disadvantage in life in relation to you. As depressing as the historical world events you/we need to pay attention because if we don't learn our lessons from history then as the saying goes "He who falls to learn from their mistakes from history is doomed to repeat them." ❤

"Man In The Mirror" Short Film was directed, produced and edited by Don Wilson. Don and Michael Jackson developed the idea for the video. Larry Stessel who was Video Commissioner at Epic Records at the time was the Executive Producer. It features a montage of clips of starving children in Africa, Adolf Hitler, Hitler's American "relatives", George Lincoln Rockwell's American Nazi Party, the Ku Klux Klan, Martin Luther King Jr., the Kent State shootings, Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Desmond Tutu, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela, Pieter Botha, Lech Wałęsa, the June Struggle in South Korea, homeless people in the U.S., baby Jessica McClure's rescue, kids in graduation, and other historical figures.🙌🏽👑💖💕🌟💯(“Man in the Mirror” ~ Is a colossally introspective record. Until the day he died, Michael Jackson was constantly evolving, never afraid to “take a look at [himself] and make a change.” By zeroing in on his flaws and correcting them, Jackson envisions a chain reaction that will spread throughout humanity. It is an extremely bold move for the most famous person to ever walk this planet other than Jesus Christ to admit to their faults, and yet MJ didn’t shy away from the less than savory aspects of his persona. Long Live The King Of Music Forever!)

One of the best songs from MJ! One of my favorites! It was written by Siedah Garrett (the same who has done the duet with Michael in "I Just Can't Stop Loving You") and Glen Ballard. This became one of Michael's most iconic songs and was one of the most successful singles from the Bad album. It reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. As you could see, this video showcases footage of protests, poverty and conflicts from around the world, emphasizing the message of personal responsibility and helping others. It's one of Michael's most memorable music videos and was directed by Don Wilson. The song has also obviously received numerous awards and accolades, including Grammy Award nominations. Moonwalker is next! I cant wait. Love your videos🔥

7:46 in the video is Bob Geldof. He helped initiate “Do they Know it’s Christmas” a Christmas charity record. Eventually leading in to “we are the world” and live aid. Without him, we probably wouldn’t have “We are the world,” since he helped propel the idea. Most importantly he stood up and took a challenge to help Ethiopia.

"In keeping with the lyrical message of the song, which is strongly identified with Michael Jackson and reflective of his own philosophies, the short film tells a story through powerful images of oppression, homelessness, hunger, police brutality and other ills of the world as well as events and leaders of the 20th century whose work embodies the song’s message to “make that change.” Michael is only featured briefly in a crowd shot toward the end of the film. Rolling Stone praised the short film in 2014 as “a powerful statement to deliver to personality-driven MTV” and included it on the list of Michael’s 20 greatest short films. “Man In The Mirror” is the fourth of five consecutive No.1 singles from the album making Michael the first artist to achieve this milestone." - Michael's official youtube channel description ❤

Every today's artists tell u ' don't change yourself' ' u are good the way u are' ' don't take it hard on yourself' but Michael said " if u wanna make a world a better place take a look to yourself then make a change ❤❤" Powerful message Love your reaction 🌹 Sooo, moonwalker is the next one ?

@@SephPlays It begins with another song which i won't spoil it for you and then comes Man in the Mirror but i already said enough. It would be better if you make it one video reaction and not in parts as you did with Motown 25, since it's meant to be seen as a whole thing. Btw that performance took place early 88, before the remaining singles get released, so chronologically it would be fine to even be your next MJ reaction, unless you plan to do Bad tour Japan full concert which took place in September 87. I think Wembley 88 is a better concert and it's on the official KZbin channel though there are some differences on the song list between the 87 and 88 tour concerts. Too bad you didn't make Victory Tour 84 but anyway. Keep up 👍✌️👑☮️

It's not about changing someones opinion or changing the person who he is. Neither we should stop people having a Opinion and no need to be always agree with each other. But Respect and Understanding is needed. Listening and Communication is what we need to learn. Still if everybody would be the same it would be boring. If everything would be perfect we would never grow up and learn. We always keep learning our full life and from each other. There is so much that we don't know. And Life is not about Perfection, and Who owns the most or is better, it's actually about living a little alone and together and enjoying all the little things and moments. Nothing and Nobody is perfect, so the Good needs the Bad and the Bad needs the Good to find balance and it's our Job to find it. What is right or wrong, well nothing of both, it's all in your hands and Life is full of choices, i hope you chose the one that fits the best and doesn't hurt you or others. It's all about how you give further and present it, means your Opinions and Actions. Don't try to be someone else that you aren't but keep your inspiration. I believe that we can change something and find a way to fix it and making it better next time. In the end you changed your Attitude but not necessary the One who you are. You just found yourself. Thats what the song is all about i guess.

This song specially the starting point why i said to you seph Michael was the most valuable artist of all time no one used his art to try changing anything only him cared and trying to make his fame a message for humanity to stop wars and hate thats a true legend right here ...this song one of many song michael did for humanity peace , also he wrote all this songs by his own except for man in the mirror ... Amazing reaction seph as always .. but i have a request from you please don't be late with Michael reactions since you react to 1 song only every time .. can't wait for moonwalker version you just can't miss that and i really enjoying the journey with you it reminds me of my self when i stared to have the pleasure to know this genius from the start to the end remember man in the mirror so well because its the last performance you will see from Michael before his death in 2009 ❤

So you know Siedah Garrett wrote this song, after the duet she had co-written with him, MJ and QJ.

I don't necessarily agree that the song is not meant to be happy: The message of the song is that there is no good in the world, but the good thing is that you can make a difference yourself. The videoclip though is rather emotional, so I can see you there.

Hey Seph, which singer is better Michael Jackson or Elvis Presley?

They both have completely different voices and come from different time periods. They both have/had veerrryyyyy Negative media attention at one point or another. They are both considered to be the top of their respective ladders. I have 10 songs from Elvis that i listen to nearly daily. I have 10 songs from MJ that i listen to daily. I honestly cannot choose between them. But i can say for certain that Freddie Mercury beats them both pretty easily :P

@@SephPlays Elvis never had the level of character assassination by the media that Michael had though. Mike was falsely accused with sick stuff with kids. Elvis actually did see Priscilla at just 14 and think "yep, she's the one for me". There's no way the 'acceptable white face of black music' Elvis was ever targetted the same way as the racial barrier-breaking Michael ever was. Heck, even the fact they both owned pet chimps but you only ever hear jokes about the black guy and his chimp and never the white guy and his chimp despite the fact Elvis treated his chimp badly (let it drink alcohol and he even hit it on occassion) but Mike always treated Bubbles like he was his son until the day he had to prioritise his actual kids (but still visited Bubbles at this new home in the sanctuary and such). But yeah, Freddie Mercury is probably the greatest singer of all time in my opinion and an amazing frontman. Michael is certainly an amazing singer too and also has the crowd control skills.

This song is the origin of BLM. BLM supports Hamas. Hamas's policy is identical to Hitler's policy. It was different in 80's and it is completely different now. Everything changes. The world has changed.
