They had Milton Rush in soldiers there for crowd control but how the he'll you gonna control 1.6 million people just not gonna happen ever in this life time (: And like the comment underneath said 53 deaths is about right maybe more (: And there were a lot of bands at this concert But Metallica was the top band there obviously back in 91 they were the shit and they still are the shit now (: Ok quick Metallica history lesson they started in 95 maybe 86 it was Lars the drum who put out a ad looking for musicians too form a band and James Heitgield the lead singer and rhythm guitarist who sometimes does lead solos as well He answered the ad and joined first then they got a bass player but he di dnt last I think he was a friend of Lars or James don't really know (: Then they got Cliff Button the greatest bass player ever in my opinion period and the guy who kind of gave the other guys musical classes or knowledge in music playing since he actually went too learn how too play in school were he learned music theory and then eventually to ight the guys how too play better than they were playing at that time (: Then they got Dave Mustang lead guitarist and singer from the amazing group Megadeth too join them back then before Dave ended up forming Megadeth after he was fired from Metallica which I will get too that point soon (: They recorded songs for there debut album Kill em all but had too get rid of Dave because of his excessive drinking and problematic disorder from it and had a negative effect too people around and they replaced him with Kirk Hammett ex guitarist from the group called exodus (: They finished the album in New York it took off a Phemonal debut album (: Then they made ride the lightening Album another killer album and a little bit of there 3rd album that wasn't yet finished called Master of Puppets and during the ride the lightening tour were they got too play big arenas too big crowds there bass player died there tour bus fell on him as he flew out the window because the bus sled on the icy road in Switzerland or Holland it tipped over (: After that they mourned his death for a month I think then got Jason Newsted too join the band former bass player of Flotsum and Jetsam (: And they finished Masters of Puppets the 3rd album and then created what I think is there best album Injustice for All (: Which I went too see in 89 great insanely intense concert energy level way off the roof (: At this point they were the greatest band out there period (: They then made The black Album were enter sandman is from and many other great tracks (: At this time they were going into the commercial side of there music were some people love it and some people hate them for it (: They released load and relod which really not that great and then the album St Anger which too me sucked balls (: And then finally some years later they released Hard wire and came back too there roots an are still kicking ass in 2020 (: Any way those first four albums or five am not sure I think it was a fifth one early one but anyway the first four were musical Heavy Metal thrash master pieces of albums with absolutely perfect music period iconic very legendary (: There music and there playing became epically iconic in greatness (: One of the best GOAT live bands ever period (: That s Metallica absolute (: A beyond great band period

Awesome video gentlemen. I remember being a young adult when this happened. This was after the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany and the fall of communism (socialism) in the USSR aka Russia. The crowd was celebrating the fact they could now openly enjoy those things us Americans take for granted. The military tried to control the crowds but ended up getting into the music with the crowd later according to James Hetfield, the lead singer of Metallica. That is also why you see the helicopters. I believe there was about one and a half million people there and the Russian government didn't know what to expect, so they had heavy military presence. It is nice to see young people enjoying all kinds of music and appreciating it. Great video and keep up the good work! 😊
