There's A LOT to say about her technique, but I want to highlight her low register during the first verse. For a Soprano with a comfort level in the upper range of her voice, her lower to middle vocal register has that depth and richness and power that I look for, which you rarely see in female Sopranos today. Her technique in hitting lows reminds me of Mariah Carey, and her powerful mids remind me of Whitney Houston. When it comes to belting and sustaining notes in the upper range, she's basically the Queen of E5-F5. Her belting tone is just impeccable. It's got that roundness that doesn't hurt the ears, with rich harmonics. And when she sprinkles in that "razzle dazzle" (voice effects, grit, rasp, growls), it's basically over. Nice reaction there, Bro. Glad to see you being moved by this performance of Morissette. This cover of "Never Enough", for me, is the best there is. It's even better than the original, and better than all the numerous covers done by other singers and wanna-be singers. I was able to watch some other versions, I've watched the video of the original soundtrack of the film, and the live versions of the original singer L.A., including the one in the BGT that got the golden buzzer, they're all very good, but Mori's version is better. Again, that's just for me, each one has his or her own preferences. That soft and mellow tone at the start, aside from being intimate, is part of her dynamics. Mori usually starts that way, gives us a feel of her low notes, then she gradually builds up and takes us for a ride as she goes up. That's why it is never boring to watch and listen to her. When she hits those high notes, she is soaring like a Phoenix. And she knows exactly how to play with the accompanying track, gliding up and down with the orchestra. Did you also notice that the music stopped when she went higher in the finale, for that dramatic effect? That's Mori's version, and it was not in the original singer's rendition, but afterwards, she adopted that in succeeding performances. Just another proof that when Mori makes a cover, it becomes the standard.

Created for her KZbin channel almost 5 years ago, Katrina is able to show off her incredible ear and musicality by layering her own background vocals and editing the piece herself using basic at home equipment. The sound she is able to create is astonishing to me. As a singer, this early piece only hints at the complete singer Katrina has become, but it’s truly a fantastic piece and worthy of attention.
