I'm 100% certain you know the first guy, the one that spoke first. That's Dr Dre and even if you aren't familiar with him and his music, you definitely know about Beats headphones. The product is actually called beatsbydr.dre. Apple bought the company out in 2014 for 3.4 billion, making him the richest man in hip hop. He discovered a skinny White boy that was blowing up from underground rap battles and helped him become a little famous-that dude was Eminem. :D I'm a 58 White grandma of 8. I *think* I still know every word on that album. The Warning by Biggie, No Vaseline by Ice Cube, Boys in the Hood by Eazy E, Still D.R.E., California Love by Tupac...get us old folks to help you out.

Yes, this is early trap, but more importantly NWA were pioneers in bringing gangster to hip-hop. As a rural white teenager in the 80s, this song was the first time I learned about how bad life could be for black people in America. Without NWA relating the truth, I might never have known.

This isn’t trap really. This song in particular isn’t about drugs or dealing

Those were the days! Hip hop has sold his soul. I feel that in the eighties it was all about the message and not the ego. Since the internet and social media the pureness is minimal. Back then there was no hip hop on the radio or tv. I used to watch yo mtvraps one hour a week. Like everything was better when it was underground. I'm a 51 dutch guy doing graffiti since early eighties. Just luke rap it all had to be invented by yourself no biting or fame from the internet. If you want to check oldschool wich had a big influence in europe check BDP, Schoolly D, big daddy kane, ice T, Beastie boys, public enemy, EPMD and so on. Girls rapping ofcourse queen latifah and Mc Light. I realy enjoy seeing you reacting to this era. Hip hop or rock

This is the beginning of gangster rap, which is now trap. NWA, Too Short, Geto Boys, and others were the first.

YES to throwback Thursday, there is a lot of hip hop history that you should learn. Start with The Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight", from 1979. As for NWA, they blew up in 1988 as originators of gangsta rap. You should start at the beginning and understand how it evolved... not always for the better.

NWA members:DJ Yella, DJ Speed, Arabian prince, D.O.C. and MC Ren......but the big names are Easy E, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre. Notable female rappers of the time: Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte, TLC, Salt & Peppa, Queen Latifah, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim......and many others. Other recommendations: Rage Against the Machine - "Wake Up" or "Down Rodeo" or "Know you're enemy" Have Lyrics.....Solid Flow hiding a deep message

Kinda crazy that I am a 53 year old metalhead and it seems like I know more about this than you do.

I love old school hip hop. I grew up in the 70s and 80s. Old school rap can sound really dated to me. There is unbelievable MCs today and there is straight trash out there. Country hip hop. Just not my scene. Mumble rap shoot me. Back in the day if you got big you were a good MC. Today's time is way better and way worse.

This is the Ice Cube I first knew. So to me it was crazy seeing him grow through the years and to see what he’s been able to accomplish.
