Anyone that has a soul, cried... It hits home for us all... I did lose everything a few years ago at almost 50... How can one hospital bill be over $8 million dollars... There was more than one... We will never give up but will continue to stand up to overcome... The government can kizz my butt... Much love to you and everyone inside this rat race...

I'm 52 and I work 365 days a year. Never been on a vacation. All I own is my $700 car. I don't mind. I have food and a roof over my head and I like my job. I never had a chance to have a family of my own but I accept that too. It is what it is. What really bothers me is when I need gas or reparations for my car. A couple of years ago I had to go to the dentist. The bill was $4000 and I had to ask my dad for the money and he ain't got much either. I've never felt so ashamed in my life. I wish I could keep a bit more of the money I earn so I could pay my dentist myself. And I love watching you laugh. This video was tough.

I’m a 55 year old black USMC veteran and high voltage lineman of 28 years, this song has changed my whole outlook. I believe it is God inspired. It changes so much, it changed how I think of my white co-workers. I always thought they had it easier. Now I know we’re in the same boat. This young man is not singing to white people , he’s talking to us all. “ for people like me, and people like you.” That is Gods love.

Average height of a woman. 300 pounds, what every white supremacist thinks of poor minorities. Poor, fat, lazy and too stupid to know what's good for them. I work all day long busting my ass and can't get ahead because the government is taking my money in the form of taxes to give to those lazy, fat, moronic minorities and women living off the tit of my effort. Two weeks ago Oliver (Chris) was unknown in the woods, then this, 24M views in 10 days. The lyrics touch us because we know it's truth. The guitar touches us because it harkens back to a simpler time. His voice touches us because it has passion and a cry in his voice that we feel in our hearts. He is touching the heart of the world wherever an incompetent corrupt conflict creating government and greedy corporations abuse and steal from the people. That's everywhere today. Lord, it's a damn shame.

I read a lawsuit against Pfizer from Australians. The short version is that ppl were suing Pfizer because they cost them their livelihood. Pfizer's defense was "nobody forced you to get the vaccine". Makes me so angry because Australia was the strictest when it came to "getting vaccinated" ....your government left them with no choice! It's time to get rid of the CDC and WHO. The two main entities responsible for this mess to begin with!

Thank you for your genuine, heartfelt reaction. Christopher "Oliver" Anthony and his three dogs live in Farmville, VA, on a 90 acres plot of land that he plans to turn into a small farm to raise livestock. Oliver’s goal is to give hope to and lift up working-class folks who are struggling daily to make ends meet in this upside-down world. This young man has character and integrity and just turned down an $8M record deal, as major labels are vying to sign him. He has a collection of songs on his YT channel (@oliveranthonymusic) and more on various streaming platforms, but “Rich Men North of Richmond” is the song that put him on the map literally overnight around the world. The fact that this song got over 19M views since its debut a little over a week ago tells you that the message transcends age, color/race/ethnicity, religion, political affiliation, and even nationality, and resonates with ordinary working folk the world over. This should be mandatory listening for everyone in government, whether elected, appointed, or just employed. Even though "the rich men north of Richmond" is a reference to politicians and “power players” in Washington DC., and probably to the financiers on Wall Street, it equally applies to politicians and the “elites” anywhere. The fact that the usual suspects are already calling this the new “right-wing anthem,” means the song has struck a nerve and is right on target. "I wish politicians would look out for miners and not just minors on an island (Eppstein Island) somewhere" is certainly an indictment of the elites who seem to get away with their crimes too often. Not wanting your taxes, which fund food stamps to be used by recipients to buy junk food (fudge rounds) does not imply that one is against food assistance programs for the truly needy; it just means that benefits should be restricted to essential, and relatively nutritious food items. I hope this anthem will wake up more people and get us ordinary folks to unite and take a stand before it's too late. May God bless you and yours.

It's hilarious how many people are like, "HE LIVES ON 90 ACRES! HE'S THE ELITE!" 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's 90 acres of unlivable land that he paid something like $90,000 for and put a used mobile home on... and he owes on everything. It just amazes me how clueless people are about the Appalachian people. They're also all not "Trump Supporters", but even if they were, I don't want anyone being this depressed about our country and their own future. But he's right, this IS how the working poor feel right now and they're not wrong. Our politicians care more about foreign lands than the people they are supposed to represent.

I’m doing the same exact thing… building million dollar homes.. most of them for people that ain’t never had to get dirty in their lives, picked up a shovel, or a hammer… these homeowners expected us to work through the “pandemic” ( not that we were scared) side by side with each other to meet their deadlines… but they couldn’t come out to the site because they were afraid they might catch something and die, they didn’t care if us low life construction workers did. So we worked through it while people were sitting at home making more money than I was making busting my ass every day

@@melindaroop1346that is the key paying people what they are worth. If you stock shelves in a supermarket don't cry that you don't make 20buck an hour. If you are a welder you should be mad if you don't at least make that. Have this conversation with teenagers that what to start at the top.

Hi my name is Debbie Quinn I am using my sister's tablet, this is just my thoughts, these record labels that have come out of the woodwork, he speaks the truth and the elites don't want that, so if they can sign, they can stop him. They wouldn't let this song get out. No one can cancel him, Tom McDonald, or Adam Calhoun. God bless all these men. These are true patriots. I love you and your reactions.

Those “friends” you lost were not your friends to begin with. Anyone who’s self centered enough to not listen and be open to what their friend is saying to them, is an energy that doesn’t need to be in your life. Much love to you girl and keep on being true to you!

Sister, you are a treasure. Thank you for being awake and standing on principle. This is not any old shooting star artist. This song is a generational event, an event horizon. It isn't just America and blue collar workers. This is global and involves anyone who is awake. The truth has been spoken by a few artists who have faithfully stood on principle, and now this. Lord have mercy, is this not a certain moment defined thus "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision."

I'm a Gen X U.S. Navy vet I feel and see everything he's singing about for the whole world not just here. The BIG 7 industries control the world not our governments or us. You should hear his cover song from Jemey Johnson ( In Color ) another from the heart. It's Appalachain Mountain folk not country music. Oliver Anothony aka Chris Anthony's from small town Farmville VA playing a resonator guitar. Oliver was his grandfathers name a tridute to him for his channel name Oliver Anthony Music.

Refinery operator over here. I got this job thinking it’d be my last cause it was high paying. Come to find out I was happier making 40k a yr tossing trash all day. Now making 150-160k a yr it shoots out the back door in taxes. We are lucky to see 50% of paychecks. I’m sick of division, then pinning one side vs another. We must see we are all in the same boat and it’s these elite people living it up while we grind for nothing. People of America we need to come together this is the greatest country to ever exist and if we stay divided they win and our country will be lost to the next mega power. We can’t be starring in our rear view when our future is in front of us, yes we can not forget the past but what’s done is done and all we can do is move forward
