Yup, its one take. (they do it 4 times and choose the best one) and of course its takes rehearsal and planning. Not that they cant pull some amazing stuff off on the fly, but its arranged and planned and practiced (you gotta choose which key to sing the songs, where to transition, who sings lead, when to change key, etc, etc)

You need to listen to their “Evolution of” videos. They do one for Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Arianna Grande. They are done in one take. They are great. I subbed hoping for more PTX reactions. Enjoyed this. 💕💕

They do 4 takes and go with the favorite. It is all one take live. Kevin is a monster that he can switch beats as fast as they change songs. In the evolution of MJ. He beatboxes-sings and goes back to beatboxing. Insane

If you like the medley concept, besides the "Evolution" videos others have recommended, you might like their 90s Dance Medley, or their tribute to Daft Punk, which is more of a mashup than a medley. Neither is done live like the Evolution videos (90s Dance Medley was done during the pandemic lockdown), but they're both well worth a listen.

Glad you gave Pentatonix another listen. If you are up for more, you have recently reacted to a couple of songs that PTX has covered -- Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know", which was one of PTX's first viral hits when they were trying to get their KZbin channel going; and Ed Sheeran's "Perfect". Warning -- their label is really aggressive about blocking, though some of their videos are less likely to be blocked, including the "Evolution of" series and "90's Dance Medley. Most reactors need to alter the video to avoid the block, or wait until it gets released, and some just react to the audio only.

In the early days when they were recording themselves in their apartments, they did 4 takes and chose the best. They still do some videos this basic way. The practice a helluva lot beforehand, because they ARE professionals. Even in the early days when they were recording on an iPad or something about that good.

Hey glad to see you gave Pentatonix another look and gained a new appreciation for their talent perhaps? (I see the Mayo is still there 🥴) Heed the advice others have given you about the videos getting blocked. Some reactors don't seem to have any trouble at all, some blur the video which I hate, a few don't show the video at all, only play the audio which I also hate. A few put a transparency over the video which isn't too bad and most stop the video periodically and comment. Maybe watch a few to get ideas. I still highly recommend Bohemian Rhapsody for you but make sure you are familiar with Queen's iconic original version first. Oh and you might want to go make sandwiches with that Mayo before it goes bad 🥪🤪
