I love Mitch's voice too. I am always taken aback by it every time I hear it. I think he was the shyest one when they were on the, Sing Off. You could tell that he wasn't very secure with his voice. I believe he'd said he was teased in school. I hope he's come to know that he has the most incredible voice and that he has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. I am in love with his voice!!!!

Scott Hoying (of the deep voice- bass? baratone?), and Mitch Grassi had formed a duet called Superfruit. Look up their official music video called “The Promise.” It’s incredibly compelling, heartfelt, and beautiful. I think Mitch wrote the lyrics. The way he embraced the song, the passion he put into his performance made it come alive for me. Watching that video was the first time I ever wished I were male. Ahh, Mitch. Not only am I the wrong gender, but too old as well. An exquisite voice, performer, and beautiful soul.

Hello G.O.T. When this popped up in my feed I almost could not contain myself. PTX doing The Prayer and you reacting!! I had to be sure I was sitting down and you did not disappoint. Your facial expressions were priceless. Was that dust in your eyes?....I thought it was allergies acting up......LOL. Isn't this just the most fantastic video ever? Pure Pentatonix Perfection. This is a beautiful video. Beautiful rendition of this song - The Prayer. Giving a message of hope for us all. Pentatonix never disappoints. All five of them are masters of their craft - individually and collectively. For this song there was skillful and perfect placing of each member in the arrangement. Mitch, with his beautiful voice, at the start and throughout owned this song, singing with such conviction and vocal clarity, the notes he hits and holds, his runs, his vibratos, his timing and his precision. Scott with his operatic presentation strong and convincing in linguistic detail. Scott and Mitch duet is perfect and well known. You should react to their Superfruit songs. Kirstin with her belting power notes and that sharp vibrato. Then Mitch belting with Kirstie. Matt on that consistent bass undertone. Kevin on the strong and well-timed vocal percussion with even cymbals clashing. The rich vocals, the tones, the call and response, the layering, the harmonizing, the wall of sound, building to the crescendo and then the clarity of Mitch piercing through again, then being so gentle. Superb performance by Pentatonix. This is A Capella at its very best. You said it "flawless". They deserve a few Grammys for this. Looking forward to your reaction to Imagine - another heartful performance. Also looking forward to some other reactions such as Gold, Amazing Grace, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Say Something, Shallow and for a bit of fun - Come Along and Take On Me. Also don't forget their original songs from their 10th Anniversary album (in 2021) The Lucky Ones - tracks include Never Gonna Cry Again, Anchor, Bored, Happy Now and the title track. The Lucky Ones. You will need a box of tissues, dancing shoes and some good vibes. Hope you read to the end of this epistle, but you know I do this all the time, as I cannot contain my enjoyment and excitement when it comes to PTX singing and their productions.

They released a song called 'Thank You' - an original of their own - in the Christmas of 2020/21, just as the second lockdown was kicking in due to COVID. The combination of the timing, along with the heartfelt lyrics and visuals of the video, meant that next to nobody who watched it could get through it without tearing up; it perfectly summed up how EVERYONE was feeling around that time. So yeah, definitely add that one to your list, along with 'Imagine' and 'Say Something.'

Oh, your face when Scott came in! He really is a baritone - he just enjoys singing pop tenor. But the song demanded the lower range, and he delivered. That's what's behind the best Superfruit songs - that contrast. And then Mitch's belting duet with Kirstin in the middle section! Matt's bass is the perfect foundation, you can feel it vibrate - and Kevin is doing full orchestra kettle drums! *ETA* - Now you're ready to watch the mini-documentary The Recording of Evergreen. You need to see Kirstin's face when she hears the initial full cut of this song. They are such sweet, humble folks even after a decade-plus in the public eye.

Pentatonix is just such an amazing group that's managed to gather fans from any and all corners of the music world. I've seen so many people from the widest variety of preferred music genres come together in loving this group's unique sound. For song recommendations going forward, I agree with everyone else's suggestion of Imagine. I'd also highly recommend checking out Love Again and especially their live performance of Aha! in Singapore at the Star Vista hotel. Both will give you a taste of their original music, and both feature Mitch quite a bit, since he seems to be a favorite of yours. Aha specifically showcases just how similar they are to their recordings when singing live, and it's largely regarded as one of the most iconic live performances they've ever had for reasons that would need their own dedicated list. So excited to watch your pentatonix journey 😄
@rebeccataylor89812 жыл бұрын
You're right about the group having fans from around the globe. One of my favorite examples of this is the KZbin video "Tribal People React to Pentatonix Hallelujah," in which villagers from a rural Middle East community watch the Hallelujah vid. They don't speak English (although they do have an interpreter with them), but they're as moved as we are by PTX's body language, facial expressions, harmonies, and emotional voices. Mitch's solo, in particular, struck some of them deeply; they mention how sad his lyrics must be. And again, without understanding the English vocabulary, they're almost cheering at the uplifting ending!
