My bestie Meredith died of cancer in 1997 aged just 33, and she had chosen this song for her funeral as soon as she knew she was terminal. The day she died, we had been at her house the night before when she was in a coma and I sat with her, fully expecting her to wake up (denial is a strong emotion) and her little 2 yr old daughter came into the room saying Mama, and there was no reaction and then I knew and started to sob. I told her how much I loved her, how important she had been in my life and that of my entire extended family who all adored her. On the day, we were going back when my husband got the phone call and had to tell me and I didn’t want to hear it. We got into the car to drive to her place and this came on and I knew she was telling me that she was ok and for me to calm down. I have heard this song at various tough times in my life, and I know it’s her, comforting me with the love she showed when she was alive. I miss that girl every day of my life still ❤ Oh this is still hard to listen to.

He was away for his first year of college. I wish I could have been there for him. I wish someone could have made him realize that he wouldn’t hurt forever, and that that was a permanent solution to feelings that were temporary even if they didn’t feel that way that way at the time. As a mum of a boy too, I know how hard it can be for them to open up, and I brought my son up to be open as I worked for the police and have seen the consequences of males keeping pain bottled up. Yet he still isn’t good letting things out and he’s now 34, but we had some tough patches after he revealed his SA and was self harming. He went missing one night and the police, family and his mates were all out looking for him, it was terrifying. As a parent, we can only let them know that they are so loved and that we are always there for them, no matter what. My love to you and your precious boy.

@karenglenn6707 Thank you. It's interesting how much we HAVE to show in love in order to convince our good parented advice... that comes experience. He has not responded yet. Lol. I included a nice caring message with the video link, without trying to be too much of some an "influencer" he may think of banning. 🤯 I hate to admit this, but I'm trying hard to work to get Max to vote with me next Tuesday with the most important election ever be our country has had. He says, "...his one vote DOESN'T make a difference". 😞I have yet to get him interested in politics because of this logic of his. I'm trying to get him detached from Trump sycophancy (brainwashed) before next Tuesday and take the time to go with me down to our prospective polling stations. I want it to be a bonding moment. Lol. I might be dreaming. I am interested in politics practically 24-hours a day here in Missouri. I have to learn to keep my mouth shut with Max in order to keep my relationship going with Max. 🤐 That's not been easy recently with a man like Trump around trying to influence the worst in people. 🥵 It's nice that we both got a chance to share a little bit just now with each other. I wonder what stories I'll have from my 21 year old when he turns 34 one day... and I guess I'll be 75. 🤯 😁

What I liked most about R.E.M. was that their music was so relatable. All of it. They sang about stuff that was there for everyone. I mean, look at the comments. It is all about feelings and relating. You were just saying how your sleep schedule was screwed, um, mine is too since I retired, well, they sang that almost immediately in the song. Listen back to it, that's where the chills came from, they sing about your life. All the best artists do that. There are a lot of reactors that I cannot stand. I find your reactions to be real. 💯 Great choice MB! Super great reaction!🔥 This song gets me every time! The last time I saw my dad alive was in the ICU at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Halloween night! The next morning, Nov. 1st, my mom, my sister, her husband, my brother, his wife, my ex-husband, daughter & I met back at the ICU for morning visits. We were escorted by nurses into a separate area. Dad's surgeon (who had removed a "hen's egg" size tumor from his brain 3 days earlier) came in to tell us that Daddy had died of cardiac arrest very early that morning. The ICU nurses had given him medicine for pain that he had really violent reactions to! It was too much for his heart to take. He was only 71 years old. I'll be 71 on November 20th. "Everybody Hurts" REALLY grabbed me, as always. The 4th is the anniversary of my mom's death. November sucks! I STILL miss them so very much ❣️ ☮️❤️🎶

1992's Automatic for the People CD was on repeat in my dorm room throughout my Junior year of college/university. My best friend/college roommate hated me for a brief time--hahaha! Thanks for the reaction. Great memories!

I love R.E.M!! I would recommend “Shiny Happy People” or “Driver 8” both are earlier in the catalog than “Losing my Religion”. Great review young man, I love reliving my favorite songs again for the first time with good folk like yourself. ✌️

Every note recorded by R.E.M. is worth hearing. This song is from one of their very best albums.

This album renewed my faith in music. As I child of the 60s, the 80s had me worried 🙂

In this song, it's way more powerful than first listen......a couple of more times, then you'll get it......

Thank you for this! I’m 61 and have heard this a million times and I have cried a million times. But it always helps.
