You were hilarious Donna. You've come across one of the biggest metal bands from Britain. This is a classic song of theirs. Rob Halford is one of the best vocalist in metal. They have been around since the 60's and have a HUGE discography. You just scratched the surface of Judas Priest.

Judas Priest, natives of Birmingham, England, was the first real heavy metal band. The term "heavy metal" had been around before 1974, when the band released their debut album, but then even the heaviest of bands (like that other Birmingham band Black Sabbath) were reluctant to use it about themselves, worried that "heavy metal" would come off as too restrictive and scaring away the big audiences. Judas Priest were the first to go the other way, proudly embrace it, saying: "Heavy metal - yes, that's us. That's exactly the sound we're going for". And they did it very successfully, only Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden rivalling them for success and historical importance during that era. The most famous Judas Priest songs are "Breaking the law" (1980) and "You've got another thing comin'" (1982), which I'm sure you'd recognize if you heard them. And for a heavy band, they have always been capable of great variationn and subtlety, having both ballads ("Before the dawn", "Beyond the realms of death") and moments of the utmost sonic brutality ("Painkiller", "Judas rising") up their sleeves. They maintain their amazing creative chops even in their old age. Their most recent album "Firepower" (2018) was an absolute and well-deserved triumph, one of the greatest successes of their long career. And their soon - as in, this March - to be released brand new album "Invincible shield" is every bit as good. Heavy metal in the truest sense of the word, and about as good as anything could possibly be.

Love Priest right after Sabbath for heavy music, no matter what you call it. Unreal bands!
@sumonjamal165310 ай бұрын
Judas Priest were the first band to embrace the term 'heavy metal' for their music in the 70's and beyond... They set the standard w/ the high vocals... the twin lead guitars... and the image of wearing leather & studs on stage 🤘🤘 Initially a local rock band in Birmingham, UK... Judas Priest established themselves w/ K.K. Downing (guitar), Ian Hill (bass) and Rob Halford (vocals)... Glenn Tipton (guitar) was added to the line-up in 1974 and established a formidable guitar duo w/ K.K. Downing... Rob Halford was outstanding as a live singer for his piercing high vocals (he was eventually nicknamed the 'Metal God' after a Priest song) Priest's first 2 albums sold poorly by 1976, but a new record contract in 1977 saved Judas Priest and put them on tour in N. America for the first time... More records established Priest as a major force in heavy metal... and Rob Halford (who is gay) wanted to express himself fashionably onstage and started dressing in leather and studs... The band thought Halford looked cool and wore similar outfits onstage by 1979... In 1980, their 6th album 'British Steel' broke commercially w/ the huge singles - 'Breaking the law' ... 'Living after midnight'... By 1982, Priest became one of the biggest heavy metal bands briefly as they toured arenas across the world for their 8th album 'Screaming for vengeance'.... which bring us to the Us Festival performance in 1983.

I was at this show. Sunday, May 29, 1983. Just turned 17 the week before and had the time of my life. Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen closed out the night. I was one of 350,000+ metalheads rocking out in the desert of San Bernardino California. I was about 15 to 20 people from the front row on Glenn Tipton side of the stage. It was definitely the largest crowd I’ve ever been a part of, and one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. Great great times and an unbelievable show. I always enjoy the fun reactions to the music I grew up with.👏👏👏👏🤙🤙🤙🤙🤘🤘🤘🤘
