That's what I'm really trippin off of. I'm 35 but I been listening to the oldies since forever. And there's still a lot of oldies that didn't get as much recognition as big hits like this one that I still need to discover. But smashing hits such as this one I would think would be known or at least heard before by anyone in there 20s and up. Anyone around my age who were raised by at least one of their parents should of heard songs like this being played. Lol I'm just saying. I find it hard to believe that this is his literal first time hearing this. But hey... to be fair everyone has different upbringings. When I first heard Teena Marie I thought she was Black, but she's a White woman with a lot of soul. I love this song and when Teena Marie comes in after Rick James, she's so smooth and soulful.😊👍💖 She was time enough for Rick James though. If that 's your expression when she first starts singing just buckle up as the song continues. That's the xylophone. Back in the day they these songs struck a chord deep down inside.
