She didn't have the look Jews were looking for. And she was too soulful for those people. So we black people embracing her talent was more than they could take. She's better than 70% of the artists in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. A lot of artists are more worthy than the artist already in. Stop the racist beliefs and the double standards.

That's what I'm really trippin off of. I'm 35 but I been listening to the oldies since forever. And there's still a lot of oldies that didn't get as much recognition as big hits like this one that I still need to discover. But smashing hits such as this one I would think would be known or at least heard before by anyone in there 20s and up. Anyone around my age who were raised by at least one of their parents should of heard songs like this being played. Lol I'm just saying. I find it hard to believe that this is his literal first time hearing this. But hey... to be fair everyone has different upbringings. I'll just say I'm happy he was able to finally discover these songs.

Thank you for a trip down memory lane. And lady t was something else in a good way. She, like the righteous brothers, blue eye soul. You should listen to her "out on a limb" also listen to her and Rick James sing "happy" those were some wonderful times for music. R.I.P. to the both of them

Baby Boy, your reaction to Teena coming in on the track is one of Shock and Bliss all at the same time. I also noticed that you were not prepared for Rick’s singing voice but it was your facial expressions that put a Smile on my face and in my heart simply because you were not expecting to be that blown away by what you were hearing.

Teena was in a category of her own she was called the Queen of blue eye soul and she's the original Lady T. Rick James was from Buffalo and I remember seeing him all the time when I was young because he was good friends with my uncle & aunt.....RipRick&Teena 😇🕊🙏🏾

When I first heard Teena Marie I thought she was Black, but she's a White woman with a lot of soul. I love this song and when Teena Marie comes in after Rick James, she's so smooth and soulful.😊👍💖 She was time enough for Rick James though. If that 's your expression when she first starts singing just buckle up as the song continues. That's the xylophone. Back in the day they these songs struck a chord deep down inside. You definitely have to close your eyes and savor every moment. All of the old songs you can find the old live videos. The quality may not be that good, but you can see them perform. Check them out. You should hear the longer version.

Musical perfection right here. Rick had a lot of problems but making great music wasn't one of them. Rip to two legends.

There are a lot of people doing what you do on KZbin, but you are by far the very Best! I love the way you show your appreciation for a song! You let yourself feel the lyrics, the music, and the era it came to life in. Thank you.

Agreed. Other "reactioners" seem to have a set bag of things to say and just throw out the same comments in each video. They don't feel the music like Satori does. 😊
